Not mine. These belong to a friend who isn’t on the boards. One of these is the original he purchased off the newsstand. I figured I could show them off.

Just came in and I’m very pleased. It was sold as VF and it definitely is. What a beauty. Also, this book was shipped double boarded in fresh Mylar, wrapped in bubble and perched on packing peanuts but when I opened the box I was immediately blasted with cigarette smoke smell. Haha. Gross. -
So Which SA Mega Key Will Surge This Year?
Summydad1 replied to Jaydogrules's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Ha! Maybe I went a little too far. I just got really excited looking at the book. Take away anything devil-ish or jeopardizing the well-being of my wife and kids..... After those, then yes I would probably do it. Haha. -

WHOA!! That is something else. Colors look amazing. I would pretty much do anything to possess that comic. -
Good question. I was just thinking this. It has been about 6 months for me which is strange. I figured out that I have all the books I want except for the 4-5 that I cannot afford in the condition I desire. I try to only buy comics with funny money so now it’s time to save up. This was bound to happen. I still haven’t come to terms with spending 10K on a comic. Panic inducing.

First I have to say that I am an OG VALIANT fan and Rai 0 is one of my all time favorite comics. ASM 300 is an iconic book and Venom has a much larger fan base than Bloodshot. Also, the Bloodshot movie hit theaters at the worst possible time. Also, VEI had so much internal nonsense that the movie was hurt some. Also, VALIANT is not one of the big two. It all adds up to RAI 0 declining in value. It’s a shame too because that book deserves more recognition. I miss VEI and wish the old owner still ran the show.
-
Ok. I’ll amend my statement. The market decided ASM 300 would have a higher price. The comic collecting/investing/speculation/grading populace decided the first appearance. Those two entities have a symbiotic relationship. One would probably not exist without the other. I lump them together. Also, I was doing my best to use the word symbiotic in a discussion about Venom.

Hopefully this does not ignite another debate since this has been discussed over and over. The simple answer that I have come to is that is what the market has decided.

Yes, I think so. Especially if it gets the 9.8 and you ever want to sell. On the flip side, that book sure does look good in fresh Mylar. You win either way just having one.

No go for me. -
A little late to the party but I would send to CCS/CGC for press and grade. They have always done a good job for me. Yeah, it’s a little pricey but it’s worth it and CGC tends to give very fair grades to books they press themselves. Then I would keep it till I retired. Odds are it will continue to climb in value. It will also be fun to track the value of your book over time compared to similar copies. Keep the other books and start collecting comics. It can be really fun and give you another chance to remember your father through one of his hobbies.

Picked up another He-man. This one is a Taiwanese 1981 stamped. Soft head but matching complexion. Also, here are a newly acquired man-at-arms and Panthro. Slowly building. -
