  1. I own the inked prelim for this ad. Before the comicconnection auction I thought my artwork was the prelim for the painted cover. I learned Romita did two versions for the fireside covers. My piece has Nick Fury instead of Scarlett Witch and all the lettering is hand drawn.
  2. What does everyone think about the final hammer of $25K for the final inked original art of the ad for Sons of Origin of Marvel Comics by John Romita Sr.? https://www.comicconnect.com/item/955545?tzf=1
  3. I have been collecting for over 35 years, years ebb and flow depending on how many piece I acquire. I am content with my collection There are still specific pieces I am looking for particular artists I don't own an example for. So I will continue collecting but find I am much more selective in which I purchase. Very little impulse buys as I used to do. But then again I have only been to a few cones in the last couple of yers.
  4. I didn't buy anything sold one minor piece. Seems like alot of the stuff that I collect was over priced. A few things interested me but not enough to pull the trigger. I could have slept in another two hours.
  5. I had Stan Lee sign two pieces of artwork, a page from X-Men #8 (my first X-Men issue I read) and Daredevil #47 one of my favorite stories. I had them both in Mylar and only had the top are outside of the artwork exposed to sign.
  6. I was at the Illustration House in 2015 at an exhibition of Frank Thorn's artwork. He had kept almost all of it and then decided to sell it so they also decided to have an exhibit of some of the art before it was sold. During the show I was there with a few other collectors including Gene Park we were admiring all the great Thorne artwork and deciding which ones we want to buy. Frank is sitting down at a table and a guy, who we did not know places the original artwork for cover to Marvel Feature #2 in front of Frank. Frank proceeds to pull out a big...... fat.... red.. marker and wrote "Frank" large across the center of the art. Needless to say I along with the other collectors I was talking to almost each had heart attacks and ours jaws dropped. We all had purchased some art from Frank already and went over to Zaddick who was repping Frank in sales and told him what happened (he was shocked) also said we didn't want our art signed. I all of this none of use thought to take a pic of the "signed" art. Kick myself to this day.
  7. Ghost Rider #10 was a reprint of Marvel Spotlight #5. I think when it was reprinted 4 years later they reshot the original art and stamped ghost Rider #10 on t as it shows Spotlight crossed out.

  15. Not sure about this one but Sprang did a number of recreations of the same cover
  16. Few years ago I went after a couple of the Batcave pieces but was the under bidder. $21K now seems like a bargain in this market.
  17. Love Sprang's art, he has done some great cover recreations. I have examples of his Batman, Robin, Joker and Catwoman. Still looking for ones of the rest of the rogues gallery especially Two-Face
  18. Raymond Flash Gordon art doesn't seem to have changed that much prices haven't increased like some of the DC and Marvel art.
