  1. I seem to recall someone throwing around the 10,000 number for distribution for FQ1. This article mentions 10k distribution for #2 through WaRP: https://www.meyersonstrategy.com/2019/08/the-origins-of-independent-comics.html
  2. Really? I don't own any of these and wondered about the increase in popularity in these. How do you know this one is a fake?

  4. Not sure if you are aware, that $1.50 cover price is a third printing. The $1.00 issues are first printings.
  5. From (good) personal experience. I had a Famous Funnies 213 that was in decent shape, but the top staple popped and the bottom was barely hanging on. We sent a note with the book to be careful.... I was not going to be too surprised if the book came back "detached cover" but it survived the whole process OK and the book is now encapsulated and the bottom staple held. Not sure if 1) the graders read the note, or 2) they are just usually careful with old books , or 3) I got lucky!
  6. I've been unsuccessfully trying to get a 9.8 for ages. One of my favorite and most nostalgic books from my childhood. I was 13 when these came out at my LCS.
  7. My favorite which was supposedly one of the inspirations for the Mandalorian show. Lone Wolf and Cub 子連れ狼 which ran in Weekly Action from 1970 to about 1975, totaling more than 8700 pages and went on to become two different TV series and six films in Japan, and also a couple comic runs with First and then Dark Horse Comics in the US.
  8. Like Cobbeldclam mentioned, most of these magazines are not worth much. One book that has been gaining traction is 1984 Shonen Jump #51 first appearance of Dragonball ($1300-2500) - there are a bunch on eBay. Another valuable magazine is the Shonen King 23, first Jiro Kuwata Batman (Bat-mangaa) is about $600-800, this is a bit more rare from June 1966. (EDIT) it has come to my attention that the Dragonball manga pictured below (not mine) is most likely a fake.
  9. great cover, here's one of my two copies.
  10. that's a nice looking 9.0, I kind of wanted this copy as well
  11. There is some news about the audio movie in current production and hopes it will lead to bigger media projects for Elfquest.
  12. Tip Top Comics 186 is a tough book to find in any grade (I know I've been looking). Even if cracked out of the case, this one might be easier to identify. There are only 12 universal copies on the census. And only one 4.5!
  13. Thor 156 (1968) https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/thor-156-marvel-1968-cgc-mt-100-white-pages/a/7244-91018.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  14. As has been mentioned before, the majority of Kojima artwork found in Japan is of Daigoro. After being exposed to so much bloodshed and destruction, Daigoro is often depicted showing an innocent curiosity with animals and nature. In appreciation of the upcoming Heritage illustration (not mine), here are some 'Daigoro with turtle' examples I've seen over the years. Probably the most common animals Daigoro are seen with are: frog, puppy, turtle, fish, dragonfly and praying mantis (in that order).
  15. I've raised enough money to pay for some art, I'm closing this thread!
