  1. Here’s a pic of a certain tall Texan I took back in 1998 in Chicago . . .
  2. OK, Lou, you are an artist with your words. I knew there was a reason I liked you
  3. I see that the individual who started this thread hid his first post
  4. Wait. I musta missed this. There is a Schmell connection?
  5. You are right about the curious timing. If ever the US needed a superhero team, it would be DURING the war, not after. By that point the superhero genre had lost its focus and readers had lost their interest. Cap 74 signaled the final death throes. The team concept of the golden age may have fared better and resonated a little more strongly with today’s collectors had the timing been different
  6. My consignments are sitting at 25% of what the final hammer should be. I guess when there’s so much time left(3 weeks!), bidders are in no big hurry.
  7. There's 9.0s up for sale right now: All Winners 19 in Clink, and Avengers 1 in CC. Both are the banding together of the marvel superheroes, but All Winners came out about 15 + years before Avengers. Which one will go for more? Which one should go for more?
  8. https://apple.news/AgI6zo70RSkSE2940dDyPww Who is Namor?
  9. Maybe the single highest grade will make the difference, but I have never felt this book got the respect it deserved. If All Star 3 and Avengers 1 is so all that, why not this book? as a worthless trivia side note, this book was once thought to be rare. Today CGC census numbers show a different story
  10. Flip side of that is I’m still waiting for the winning bidders to pay for their wins out of the same auction. . .
  11. I just bought a cap 1 and 3, a bat 1, and some classic covers. I bought them because they brighten my day. I’m 64 and looking to slow my career down. Don’t care if I make money, but would like not to lose money
  12. I’ve said similar in the past, only to receive a beatdown from high-post-count boardies. This string is starting to take a pessimistic turn, but I guess it’s a who knows. Maybe the best way to know ones true feelings is to look at the dollars we as individuals have spent in the last couple years. Big spenders are the optimists
  13. I sent an email to the seller about this picture. You’d think if he wanted serious coin he would do a better job with the pictures he posted. Either the original photo is blurry af, or the Ebay pic was taken by a drunk monkey. So I’m asking for a clearer shot. I’ll post any response, or lack thereof
  14. It’s only in the last 2 years, near the end of my career, that I’ve had a few extra bucks for the longest love of my life. I may be wrong wrong wrong, but I think the keys will continue their ascent. If I didn’t believe that I wouldn’t have paid the stupid money I’ve paid. I didn’t get in when prices were reasonable; I got in when they were insane. But still, I came in. I don’t think I will be the last. Not nearly
  15. Is this the consensus about Beerbohm? I talked to the guy about 20 minutes years and years ago and liked him. But I never did business with him, so I don’t know
  16. Oh, I see. Yes, that would be a big payoff. This scan is low res and I haven’t had time to look at the original, but it appears as though the staple entry points thru the paper show tell tale cover fade.
  17. I sat next to his kids at the live auction, and they applauded, as did we all, when the hammer came down
