  1. we have taken a secret vote and think you need to change your avatar
  2. This book has a tortured past : https://www.rarebookhub.com/articles/2196/print?page_id=4234
  3. I love MF 73. But How many people are there that collect aquaman and green arrow? I don’t watch the shows. Is there something on tv bringing in new collectors of those characters? I mean besides the aquaman movie itself? If not, I guess that has got to be factored in when considering the long term appeal of MF73.
  4. Looks like she is fighting back with a pearl necklace and a credit card
  5. That’s the same here. 15-20 people, of which half were probably Heritage employees. Seems very anticlimactic
  6. No, they are common. I was referring to the 9.4
  7. I think the case could also be made that it sucked the life out of the Bat 1. The Bat 1 was directly before the 9.4 Cap 1. By the time the failing underbidders running after the Cap realized their white whale was getting away, they had already lost their shot at the Bat. Result? $40k pp on the Bat 1. It was either that or the spine splits.
  8. alright, alright!! sheesh. If I wanted this lack of respect, I'd go talk to my wife . . .
  9. The Bat 1 went for $40k pp, which I actually thought was low. I think of it as a $50k pp book. The Cap 1 I also think of as a $30k pp point book, and that's pretty close to what it went for here. Maybe $28k pp
  10. Yes, I've gone to many, but its really convenient for me. 10 minutes from where I work. This one seemed historic given the Cap 1 9.4, so I just wanted to feel the vibe as it all went down. The room broke out in applause when the hammer came down. Really, you only have 15 - 20 people in the room, all murmuring into phones and going thru laptops and catalogs. I knew a few of them. To me, the most interesting people in the crowd were John Verzyl's kids. It was fun to watch them bid. The young man was classic. He had such unbridled enthusiasm, and seemed to have good discipline. If the book went over his bid, he would groan, smile, and then stop his bidding.
  11. you mean the Fighting Crank? What millennial wouldn't fall in love at first sight?
  12. Keep me in mind when you tire of your 44 . . . (I also love the minions on the 46)
  13. That's funny. Truly, I got overbid on the 47 and immediately left Heritage without watching the rest . . . Maybe my ratios are low, but that's what it seemed like. Regardless, MMCs are cold, IMO Although I will say my 40 and 44 did well in the last CC auction. To my knowledge, if it ain't 1, 40,44, or 46, it gets ignored. You know, I really would not have my feelings hurt if I was told I was wrong, though.
  14. It’s odd how hot Caps are, yet how cold Subby, Torch and MMCs are. The San Francisco MMCs in today’s heritage auction only went for 2 to 3 x Guide, and non-pedigrees are in the doldrums
  15. Ok I gotta do it now. I did predict $50k difference dont hate me cause I’m beautiful
  16. I guess if you’ve got a big enough pair, Heritage will bend. Probably wouldn’t work for an Iron Man 55
