  1. There’s a boardie here that chased Johnny Crawford around at a convention until he finally autographed this issue. Crawford initially refused, not much liking the infamy of the picture. (He knew what you guys out there were saying - you sickos) But when the boardie persisted, he finally agreed to sign it. Probably just to shut the boardie up about it already. So he autographed. . . The Log itself!! I’ll look thru my messages for who the boardie was that told me ok it was @comix4funwho told me about getting Johnny Crawford to autograph the log. and as long as we are on the topic of crazy, how about this:
  2. I didn’t realize you whales were watching this humble book, although the bidding should have tipped me off. I woulda paid more, so I’m happy to get out of that with my skin . . .
  3. Yes, me too. He seems to be doing well at Heritage
  4. I don’t think this one is particularly rare, but it is getting pricy. And my life will be just fine without the coupon
  5. Did you just win this off the Heritage weekly? Really nice book
  6. CGC does it themselves during encapsulation process. Maybe the guy ate breakfast on it first. Anyway, I’ve got that problem with my Mask 1, actually. I’ll send it in for a reholder one of these days and hope for a better outcome
  7. And with the end of WWII, thus began the inexorable slide toward Crime, PCH and Romance. . .
  8. I think there’s an argument to be made that the 7.0 would benefit from all the eyes on the 8.0. If I were the 7.0 owner, that argument would have been somewhat persuasive. Together , the 2 Bats would achieve a bigger splash and draw out bigger money. Of course it didn’t turn out that way, at all
  9. This is an interesting LB Cole, to me anyway. These long dead astronauts are afloat with bubbles of their own blood in orbit around them - some pretty dark stuff. It amazes me to think the same mind produced all those romance covers too
  10. Right. But I bet the 9.4 consignor doesn’t love life nearly as much as the 9.4 buyer right about now
  11. At the time I thought that was too high, having just witnessed the 8.5 Mask 1 Promise copy hammer for $102k. I love both Masks, but when it comes to actually putting up the money, I gotta read the tea leaves and try to look into the future. And I fear the future for these cover driven books(with ho-hum interior art and no character development) is much more precarious than a book with a significant story line development. Although the Mask books have been on fire for 5 years now, who is to say tomorrow’s collectors will feel the same about the covers? I have a Mask 1 and love it. I just don’t need the highest graded one.
  12. Hopefully the 9.4 guy is in it for the love of the hobby, because the business end of this can be so arbitrary and heartbreaking
  13. Well done, Masterchief. Some of those price drop-offs are stunning
  14. Any surprises for you @tth2? I must confess to a few for me, both high and low
  15. In keeping with my MO, I picked up a page from a book I own, but prevented from ever opening. The page somehow enhances the fun of ownership for me
  16. That’s interesting, and a nice offer. You should keep this page for you. Do you think he must have drawn the art for the first page? It’s a cool style
