  1. 4 years ago, just before the pandemic, CC had a 7.0 hammer at $243k, and this one is almost there Caught in a constant stream of 3 minute extensions, the wanker outbid me by $2k. I blinked first. This was back when I had money
  2. I remember that one. Same exact grade, too, so we will know a little sumthin sumthin about the current market in a minute here
  3. Both have that similarity awkward position(at least, awkward to me) of the hero’s skinny legs
  4. I've got tracking bids down that may have me saying "oops, I did it again". C'mon people!
  5. Yes, that’s true. But also true is there really is a size difference
  6. They really are two different sizes. They’re both mine so I’ve been able to “feel” the difference, which is what prompted me to measure them. I understand and don’t disagree with the cut may be higher or lower on the cover image. But I’ve owned many 37s, and the top one is larger than any others. For those of you who might be Cap nerds like me, check out the Cap 36s. They are all small books too, and mostly cut badly
  7. I’ve had a hard time evaluating this myself. Leaf casting was done to the pages, so it’s impossible to know how much is real and how much isn’t. this is not the usual case where the restoration is confined to the cover. don’t get me wrong: I’d love to have it. I just don’t have any hammer predictions
  8. Looks like the same image and same artist, so “copy” gets my vote
  9. Did Simon and Kirby borrow from Schomburg? Cap 3’s cover (a book for which S & K did the interior -script and art) predated their subsequent illustration in a Marvel pulp by 6 months . . .
  10. I’ve noticed that in other books. I very much prefer the top Cap 37 because it is bigger than the normal Cap 37, as seen below it. The top copy is an 1/8 th of an inch both taller and wider and than the normal 37, allowing for more art in the cover image, and you can see Schomburgs name. You rarely see his name on a 37
  11. Whoa. I need a crime scene analyst to figure out all the wrong things going on here
  12. Good choice. I looked at this one long and hard. From MyComicShop?
  13. I’m new to pulps and just won this book off the Heritage pulp auction. I bought it only for its advertising for Marvel Comics 1, but got an unexpected surprise Look at what the table of contents page says: the inside illustrations are by Simon and Kirby. Bonus!!
  14. Schomburg is my favorite golden age artist and the reason I collect. Much as I love Schomburg, if I’m honest with myself, I gotta admit some of his covers were not great. I don’t understand how he could go from drawing the cover on 37 to drawing the cover on 44. If there’s a worse Schomburg cover than 44, I’d love to know what it is.
