  1. My first reaction was to shudder, but if they could make guardians watchable, anything's possible.
  2. A pair of Okajima books are ending in a few hours on ebay, if anyone's interesting in following. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Detective-Comics-88-OKAJIMA-Pedigree-RARE-Batman-WWII-DC-1944-CGC-4-0/363000195283?hash=item54847f68d3:g:lqYAAOSw7epexrND https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jungle-Comics-125-OKAJIMA-Pedigree-RARE-WWII-Fiction-House-1950-CGC-6-5/313089742215?hash=item48e59a5587:g:1GwAAOSwOX9exrNL https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sensation-Comics-34-OKAJIMA-Pedigree-RARE-Wonder-Woman-WWII-DC-1944-CGC-4-0/363000195620?hash=item54847f6a24:g:9QAAAOSwTyxexrNS
  3. Took a second run on the shops quarter bins, found these (the superman pack was in a dollar bin). Only made my way through 2/3 of the shops quarter long boxes, but had to bail for work and then leave town
  4. When it comes to surviving copies, can I assume other books from 36-39 like the first 20 issues of tip top have roughly as many surviving copies as action 1? The census shows most in the single digits, but they're not nearly as valuable so I'm assuming less motivation to submit them .
  5. I dont like taking advantage of people, but it felt good pulling a $300 book out of a quarter bin box while the shop owner was bragging to me about how much he makes underpaying for peoples collections.
  6. Pretty much this. The overwhelming support for pretending pressing doesn't matter yet its important to not disclose this information to potential buyers is somewhat surprising and very disappointing to me. Going to stick to getting my comics from quarter bins where its safe.
  7. Love it, picked this book up a few months ago. 77 years, wowza.
  8. And for what it's worth, some of us post 1980's gree up watching the original superman show, as they used to show it on nick at nite Even more watched batman. TAS, though.
  9. Wait, you mean i cant get NM copies of Torchy for $200? one of the surprising ones is they still list the horror copies at the end of Jumbo Comics as if they were part of the run, and not 3-5X more expensive every time they sell.
  10. Yah, loving the old popeye books. I picked up popeye and his papa for a song, and it was a trip. Plus the deep blue cover and imposing size, it barely squeezes into my magazine box! Another funny strip charactor I'm enjoying is tarzan, although his books seem to be going for a bit more than the other books of the era, but still feel cheap compared to PCH.
  11. A flash 85 is one of the few that survived my purge It seems like, at least on Ebay, more sellers are aware of the universe copies and mark their labeling to reflect it. I even found one guy who priced up a bunch of his dc universe books but has 3 bullets at the same price as his bulk. I'm going to a shop next week that has dozens of 25 cent long boxes to dig through. I cleared out most of the marvel bronze so it's nice to have a new goal. I did get lucky with a very rare batman reprint last time so in feeling lucky.
  12. Kind of the approach I take. Currently I'm slowly grabbing old strip reprint books like king comics and single series. They can run up to $100 an issue, but in VG or better they still pop, are fun reads, and cheap relative to their scarcity.
  13. It's a brave new world where Alf comic books get the Mylar treatment :D. Can you imagine going back to 1990 and telling a crusty old comic shop owner that someday Alf will be a wall book?
  14. Just came in. Been looking for this one for a while in decent shape.
  15. Probably some of mine lol. I've thrown out or sold for pennies tons of these. Used to live off comic packs in the early 90s. I just pulled about 8 flash copies with this upc out of my throwaway box I was giving to my nephew Are the issues with just the small round DC logo as scarce? I just pulled one from my giveaway stack, and can't find much info on it other than a mention on the first page.
  16. I stand by this being the first silver samurai
  17. Was going to say, 50s war books was what I was transitioning into when I realized I just couldn't afford. PCH, and I'm finding even the war books are getting pricey. I just have to pinch my nose and settle for westerns At least some like death valley 2, imo, stand toe to toe with PCH.
  18. I have a march of comics mickey mouse book with a newspring cover, and I can't imagine trying to find these types of books in decent grade!
