  1. To be fair, it's probably one of the most undervalued comics from the 70's.
  2. Let's keep the toxic bs out of these forums.
  3. Winnepeg has the most comic books per capita? Not sure if I believe this late 90's show's claim...
  4. Yah, I was there about a year ago. Was in Seattle for work, figured with a name like GA collect it would have...you know...some nice GA comics. DIdnt realize it was at pikes place or I wouldnt have bothered (following GPS). Girl at the counter was rude, didn't seem to be any decent selection, and the few prices I could see were Mile High(tm). It seems it morphed into a tourist trap selling mostly funco pop , which is fine, but they really need to change the name. And get better customer service.
  5. Is that the one at pike place? Would strongly recommend anyone visiting Seattle looking for a good old comic shop to not waste time going there.
  6. Sorry that yours turned out to be a reprint. Is there a story behind it?
  7. I have some thoughts but probably I'm not the most knowledgeable. I surf some more casual comic forums, and one of the most popular book sets that New collectors seek out are the first black costume spideys. ASM 252 has shot way up over the last couple of years, so I think sw8 is the next, almost as good, substitute.
  8. Every time I come across them in the quarter bins, I have to remind myself its not elfquest and I don't want bulk
  9. I just call them prewar comics. Sets defining time in the era, indicates they predated and survived the war paper drives, and sounds cool at least to me.
  10. I cringe every time I see a book labeled bandage when its something as basic as say the lone ranger or spiderman tied up on some railroad tracks. I'd love to see the label just go away forever..
  11. Is DD 254 now a 70 dollar book? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Daredevil-254-1st-Typhoid-Mary-NM-Cond/383662211193
  12. We all started somewhere, but even back in the 90s when I opened my ebay account, I understood you don't sell a thousand dollar item with zero feedback. This guy is clearly out to scam and run, look at his 1800 captain america book thats worth 30 tops.
  13. Yes. Modern comic collecting is not based on what a collector wants, cherishes, and values, but on what youtube "influencers" and "speculators" pump as the next "thing". As a former teen during the death and "rebirth" of superman, this is a trash book. There is no long-term collector desire or appeal for this trash book. It is common, badly written (I reread it 2 days ago), and trash. There is some "movie spec" about superman wearing a.....black costume?....hence some pumpers are pushing this common and trash book as the next hot spec book. Flip any you got on ebay asap, and move onto real collectibles. Like Captain america 286.
  14. Not really a "we", but id always assumed the last golden age cap story had him blown up on a plane with bucky based on the reprint in cap 400 of avengers 4. Now I'm not so sure...
  15. I kinda feel like thats cheating. Flipping the orb in that case like doubles its impact.
  16. It's like when Rollling Stone tried to make a top 100 heavy metal list and half the bands weren't even metal. Yes Nirvana is great, but not metal!
  17. For anyone else like myself who doesn't know this book but wandered into the topic.
  18. Got about 30 sonics from a 50 cent box. Also got a pair of DCU upc books I didn't have yet, and a dozen or so 30 cent archies.
  19. The Phantom does not possess super powers, hence not a superhero. And before you ask, I don't know what makes batman a superhero. *edit* oh and post a pic! I picked up a couple older ace comics recently and can't get enough of them!
  20. Gorgeous book, I'm in the same situation if you replace room with spare cash
  21. Well, good luck with that, hopefully it doesnt backfire. People are (correctly) wary of new get-rich schemes, as many fail.
  22. It's not suspicious at all, a man going fishing in the middle of the night.
