  1. I'm just curious how this even got through. Any time there's an auction I'm considering, it has 40+ followers and a small army of bid snipers
  2. And that, folks, is why you don't charge $40 to ship a few comics
  3. I mean, back in the mid 90s when I left comics for a bit, 2nd prints were worthless. Now people are grading like asm 361 2nd print and getting actual cash for it. Heck, im now actively collecting dc universe upc books. Had you told me in 92 id be actively seeking out dc comics I was getting in packs id have laughed.
  4. It's a strange phenomenon. I know a number of people with that mindset, and I'm not much older (37). I grew up on b+w shows like get smart and mr ed, and the idea that black and white = unwatchable just confuses me.
  5. 8 in census, recent pick up. Doesn't have Tarzan on the cover, but old enough it caught my interest. Kind of ticked that there are multiple loose pages (and possibly pages missing, who knows), which wasnt disclosed. Didn't pay a lot for it, so probably not worth the effort of returning/complaining.
  6. Saw this last night and had to look up who the sons of fun were. Ended up watching Hellzapoppin on youtube
  7. The Roman Empire fell because of taxes? Eh, somewhat true, but not in the way they wanted to push it. One of the dozens of reasons the western side of the empire collapsed was the practice of wealthy Roman's to not pay taxes putting even more of the burden on those below them.
  8. He was all cleaned up and ready, but suddenly found himself covered in foot prints and bird droppings.
  9. Found at a bookstore today for 5 bucks, figured it would be a nice reader copy. Got home qnd its missing some pages Also, found these at an antique shop last week for pretty cheap
  10. Found in the wild today at a book store, only cost a couple bucks. Also picked up about 60 12-35 cent archies out of a quarter bin!
  11. Try here https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/23-ask-cgc/
  12. Hit up an antique shop and got these for $2 each. Lot of random ducks to fill in some holes in my runs, some fun atlas books, and some other dells I snagged. Most of the books are from around 1954. The Southern hospitality duck book is a fun one, as its an early scrooge cover that predates scrooge 1 (4 color 386?) Astute eyes might have spotted the 4 marvel books up in the corner. I picked those up at a comic shop later in the day. Some cap issues I need for my run, an early Byrne book, and 3rd taskmaster.
  13. I'm shocked nobody has mentioned excalibur or g4oo. Great runs, no collector interest.
  14. That's the one. I was working on a few of the books on that list that were 'affordable'. I have a Single Series 20, Feature Book 25, and lost out on Four Color 10, again, by a bid sniper not even 2 weeks ago
  15. If possoble can anyone post a top lost from the first oversheet? Or the first time they compiled a list? I saw it on a YouTube video someone linked here q. While back, but can't find the video.
  16. I actually mostly agree. Read through the war reports and thats mostly it. A little more content would be nice.
  17. If it was a shopping guide I'd be broke. What's kind of annoying are the fold out ads. I was trying to read the market report and that annoying ad kept flopping over. Sorry heritage, I can't afford your books, but if I could, you just lost me as a make-believe customer!
  18. This is probably common knowledge, but just threw me for a loop. Red Circle Comics is actually Archie comics? Just won an auction for some really beat-up archies, and I was scanning through the books of the auction I handt actually planned on winning and couldn't find one on an online price guide (I like to scan books, see if they're important or have and interesting creator). Comic was Mad Comics 97. I kept searching and filtering, and couldn't find it, based on publisher. Turns out it's part of the Archie Madcomics run. For 3 issues they go full-on bronze-age horrow. Mind blown. Now I'm digging through my bronze red circle horror books, and my favorite, Red Circle Sorcery, is an Archie book?! I look up the previous 2 issues, and issue 1 has Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Super cool, but totally unexpected. Archie jumped on the early 70's horror resurgence. I never knew. (Image is stock from the googles, don't feel like digging into the longboxes)
  19. All of the above! Although I'm guilty of it as well. As a kid, i wanted expensive books not just because they were important, but because they (allegedly) finally revealed who the Hobgoblin REALLY was! Now, if I'm awed by a cover, I feel the need to chase it. It just feels like in the hobby now, people are all about the cover, and this spills over to me as well Modern, bronze, silver, and golden. But to be fair, I still seek out rare old books regardless of cover. But I'm a cover chaser as well lol. *edit* Now I think I understand your question. Old school collectors compared to current collectors. My fault trying to answer a response to a post I made while inebriated while surprisingly still inebriated.
  20. This but unironically. Modern collectors seem to care more about a cover than what's behind it
  21. Just came in, 1937. Not sure if I'd consider it a comic book, its a cool piece nevertheless.
  22. It does. I still have in the back of my mind what books were selling for and were hot in the early 90s, even if many are now found in dollar bins XD And keep in mind, in 92, hob gobby was still pretty hot. He was still appearing in current books, and I think around that time you got hobgoblin possessed by a demon, and then demogoblin, which ran for a while and even ended up in the then-hot spirits of vengence books and maximum carnage.
