  1. Back in 2002ish, I was in the navy and bored while underway, so I bought a couple runs just to read. I got a full sandman run (missing like 3 issues in the 30s range) for about a buck an issue, an xmen run from 150-300 missing just a couple minor issues for well under a buck an issue, and an ASM run missing a few minor issues from 230-300 for under a buck an issue (but it included 238, 239, 252, 300) for under a buck an issue. I really wish I had bought more back then, as each run I bought had books in then worth well over what I paid, but I was distracted by a little game called warhammer
  2. Going to plug another forum on here that's pretty solid. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/ They can give you a ballpark idea of what your books might grade at.
  3. If 2020 me went back to early 1990s me and said "someday you'll be impressed by muppet babies and heathcliff comics", I feel like teenage me wouldn't believe it for a second. But here we are 😄
  4. A 4.5 just sold for less than half that https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/superhero/amazing-fantasy-15-marvel-1962-cgc-vg-45-off-white-pages/a/122025-17029.s
  5. Pulled this book out of a quarter bin in the early 90s. Never bagged it, didn't much care for it since it wasnt a "real comic". Finally, this year, realizing it's age, I put it not only in a bag, but in Mylar
  6. I'm leaning towards malpractice My 1994 copy of Wizard shows this as a $10 book, well above other issues in the run, and adjusted for inflation, like a $500 book It's been hot for decades.
  7. I know I got a reprinted 415 in a reprint pack at Kmart in 92ish. Wish I had kept it. Threw out all my DC reprints like 2 years ago when I got back into comics. Cause, you know, reprints are worthless.
  8. This is just.....amazing to me. Awesome book, awesome connection made. The only thing that could top this is if someone could find and verify the exact copy of Crime Suspensetories 22 that was held up in congress.
  9. Young me would choose the run, no questions asked. Not even close! Me today, though, can access all spidey stories online, and also wants to massively downsize the collection, so... Amazing Fantasy 15 no contenst.
  10. Gorgeous book. I lost out on a copy a few months ago and still wish I went harder for it
  11. Send back the frankenbook, every time you look at it its going to bring you down, when a nice old EVC book should only bring you terror.
  12. pretty much. I still have a full downloaded run of transmetropolitan I got off of megaupload back in like 08.
  13. Found another Irene Claxton book. Bit more than I'd spend on it, but if anyone's interested in a non pedigree pedigree. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Popular-Comics-11-CGC-7-0-1936-1213329007/362972716510?hash=item5482dc1dde:g:1TQAAOSwxv1emTIM Edit And another one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/More-Fun-Comics-15-CGC-7-0-1936-4500-Guide-Only-one-graded-higher-c-23729/233608769739?hash=item36642af0cb:g:LMoAAOSwm-Bc-TzO https://www.ebay.com/itm/Popular-Comics-17-CGC-6-5-1937-1213329012/133388840798?hash=item1f0e982f5e:g:Y3wAAOSw0nlemTIZ https://www.ebay.com/itm/Popular-Comics-20-CGC-6-0-1937-1213329013/362972822533?hash=item5482ddbc05:g:3Z4AAOSwJjtemVQl https://www.ebay.com/itm/Popular-Comics-12-CGC-6-0-1937-1213329008/313056436214?hash=item48e39e1ff6:g:8B8AAOSwtANemTIP Some damn nice books
  14. If only they'd reprint AF15, they'd sell a million copies
  15. When you were growing up, did he ever let you read some of his comics, or try to get you interested in comics in general?
  16. A couple of years ago I came across a nice one of these. Referred to a price guide to check the value, and ubdrf notes it stated "1st scrooge mcduck". I figured 40 bucks for uncle scrooges 1st appearance was a good deal and nabbed it. 😄
  17. I'm of two minds. I dont actually dislike digital comics. I tried the marvel universe ap a few weeks ago, and was so impressed I bought a big tablet and a years subscription, and I'm loving it so far. I'm reading hundreds of books I always wanted to read as a kid, and it's great. However, I dont see myself every buying single digital copies of any books. A subscription to read most of the marvel universe is fantastic, but I cant bring myself to pay 4 dollars for any current book, let alone in digital form.
  18. Yah got mine in Washington with the sticker. But mine was $1, now 50cents, and the one just posted was 50cents, now 25cents. Someone got a deal!
  19. Kind of a dumb question, but... Say I have a comic with a pretty strong moldy smell, even when bagged. Is there any chance this mold can spread to other bagged books if I put them all in the same box?
  20. Just got some books in. Ace comics 4 has 1 graded on the census, the other ace has no graded copies. The tip tops each have around 5 graded copies.
