  1. 39 more issues to complete my Sky Girl run:
  2. I did once, a long time ago, but not now. A Daddy's Ring, instead?
  3. I'm waiting for a huge, previously unknown GA collection to (magically) appear on my doorstep, but it ain't gonna happen! I was going to pull the trigger on a Jumbo 99 a while ago - nice book! I actually paid cash money for that Jumbo 99. Made an offer on eBay (first time) and the seller accepted. Right now it's either still unshipped or in the grubby hands of the USPS.
  4. Sounds familar. Worked my *spoon* off today. Nothing in the mail, but at least there was cold beer in the fridge. I'm waiting for a Jumbo 99 to appear on my doorstep.
  5. There's often a trade-off between structure/condition v. color. I'll buy a deeply-colored VG/F book over a washed out VF anyday. It's all in the eye-appeal.
  6. As much as I love FH, the fading/washing out problem is distinct and a pet peeve. For me, part of the hunt is finding covers with nice, rich color. I'll pass on a structural VF that's faded.
  7. Nice start to the FH collection. Prepare to be obsessed.
  8. Received a CGC 9.2 Brave and Bold 64 from MemphisChad today. Quick shipping, good packaging, and he let me know when the book was sent out. In addition, it's one of the nicest 9.2s I've seen.
  9. Bruce Wayne goes to London to watch a movie that he invested in being made. Among the crew are a hip chick in a mini-dress, a shaggy guitar player, and an ex-Scotland Yard detective. They become the Bat-Squad and help Batman solve the mystery. It's all very typical mid-sixties DC, old white guys trying to be hip. B&B 63 is much better.
  10. Not the greatest cover, IMHO. Story is fairly forgettable. I just got a copy of that book for my collection, btw. Not a 9.6, but at least a raw 9.2.
  11. Congrats!! Remember, we want pics after it is all done. Thanks. Oh you will have pics, it wont be too exciting, but everyone has to start somewhere. So, any advice other than off of an outside wall and not near pipes? Elevate to avoid water damage in the case of flooding. Don't know if it's a problem in your area, but where I live, if the levee breaks, I'm in trouble.
  12. How about I buy it and you visit the Tiki Hut and oogle it?
  13. Post with attachment. Click attachment to display scan. Copy url to clipboard. Edit post - click Image in "Instant UBB Code." Paste url into dialogue box. Submit edited post. Easy-peasy. And nice book, btw. I bought some high-grade late-silver/early bronze B&Bs at Wondercon. Now I wonder if I should have gone after the pre-hero ones I saw. Alas. At least I got a nice Fight Comics 38 I won't regret not buying... Thanks! That is easy...once you know how to do it! I never would have figured that out. You're welcome. I learned how to post scans the same way you did. Now show us some funny books!
  14. If you're interested in selling that "throw in," PM me.
  15. Do any of you ever feel sorry for Whitman, him doing beautiful art for Fiction House in the early 1950s when we know the entire line is doomed for imminent failure? Imagine if he had been working for Marvel in the early 1960s. He'd probably be as famous as Kirby nowadays.

  17. I love those early Jungle dinosaur covers. I may have to start paying attention to Jungle Comics to get those books.
  18. I love the pre-hero B&Bs. Everyone seems to be focused on the Adams issues, the 28, and the Hawkman issues. When I get some time, I'll post some "short-bus" B&Bs, perhaps with commentary.
  19. I love Brave and Bold 63. Only in the early 1960s DCs could Wonder Woman give up crime fighting due to the opportunity to model beautiful gowns. I'm putting together a Brave and Bold run. At Wondercon this weekend I managed to purchase HG copies of 88, 89, 92, and 104. I'm waiting on a 9.2 CGC 64 in the mail.
  20. My meager Wondercon GA pickings: The Daring Adventures is technically Silver Age (1963), but it's full of Matt Baker Phantom Lady goodness:
  21. We all seem to have garbage pail envy.
  22. OS is loopy on Seven Seas prices. #2 is dirt common, with #1 being a little less so. #s 3, 4, 5, and 6, the GGA issues are tougher. 3 is probably the easiest of them to find, next being 6, then 4 and 5. All of this IMHO. But for the Baker art in #s 1 and 2, they wouldn't command high prices at all. I find the covers quite awful.
