  1. The issues to date have been selling PGX books(not allowed), selling PGX books but not showing the label(not allowed), and recently posted books shown in PGX holder (one seller indicated book was unslabbed but no new pic was posted, other indicated book would sell as-is(slabbed) or raw(cracked) based on buyer's preference). If CGC truly feels that any of the above scenarios are unacceptable, then maybe stipulating "raw or CGC only" requires photo of item in it's current state to clarify any potential questions. Flip side is to drop the "raw or CGC only" guideline, depending on how strongly CGC feels about PGX books listed here. (We know how Steve feels. ) On the other hand Sal's post brings up a good question? What constitutes "raw"? I have never tried to crack a slab just enough to remove a label and leave a book in for protection, but is that unreasonable?
  2. I had to backtrack to the PB conversation, yesterday's mail brought one of my favorite Ed Bergey covers:
  3. Mickey should try using the front seat. Front seat is for the customer who puts 25 cents in the slot, Mickey is just there for the licensing check.
  4. He was spotted as the new door man at Chuck e Cheese Excellent news, and I can only assume you have him under constant surveillance? Well, nik is a mechanic and Mickey's car broke down.
  5. Did this topic arise due to "discussion" posts in someone's thread or incessant graemlin posting*? *Of which there is no master other than The greggy.
  6. Well, there is the: "BUYERS When you reply to a sale thread indicating that you'll buy something you must indicate what book you're buying. Otherwise, if someone else is more specific than you are first, your offer won't be considered valid." from the guidelines. The other reference could be from individual threads where sellers indicate " rules" or ":takeit: & PM accepted, timestamps win" type policies.

  12. Sadly we live in a time that could be aptly title the "Age of Entitlement', where people feel they can do whatever they want because it promotes/advances their best interests no matter what the established etiquette/guidelines/laws are (not commenting specifically on this board but globally). Guidelines/laws exist so people have an expectation of acceptable behavior from each other, sometimes established by majority vote or sometimes established by an entity providing platform of interaction(say, CGC for example). Can people disagree with the guidelines? Absolutely, and have the right to be vocal about it. Should that disagreement extend to ignoring the guideline? If that is the choice made then that person should be prepared for the consequences. When valid issues are brought up in the appropriate & polite manner(PM first, if no response then what next? post in thread?) the anticipation is that we as a community make everyone aware of the guidelines that help make this a pleasant place to be a part of and not have to deal with excessive moderator policing. The guidelines exist: getting defensive just because they are brought up is not a reflection that someone does not "have a life". Is everyone always going to agree on every topic/opinion? No. Is everyone going to like everyone else? No. Is anyone here perfect? Frak no. Hopefully some median can be found where the CGC Board can be enjoyed in a variety of ways by contributing, lurking, posting stuff for sale, whatever your flavor may be. That's all I have to say about that (for now).
  13. How about allowing editing of posts for 7 days instead? While that would be a nice feature to have, not sure that would deter/eliminate reposting threads, but would be helpful for existing threads to edit the thread title to reflect any relevent changes. A thread can be 'edited" infinitely by adding a post on the end. It would seem a 7-day cushion would still be a separate issue.
  14. My We have threads here that see relevent posts/purchases 1-7 days after the last post in the thread. That's great, not everyone can review the available For Sale threads as they are posted or even within a day or two and having them accessible makes it more likely for them to be seen and possibly result in sales. Now if every thread was recapped in a new thread within 1-2 days of the existing thread's last post, a couple of things may happen: a) Current new threads get pushed back quicker b) The amount of threads that someone who isn't around to see (almost) every thread as it is posted then has to weed through the multiple threads of the same books- and quite often this isn't apparent until the thread is clicked on. Use of that time may affect the views on single threads as they fall further back. I don't think the reposting is a guideline violation, but being conscious of this is a way to be considerate for the decent format we have to work with on the Boards Only For Sale Forum. There are threads that are ending up on page 3 by the end of a day(depending on how many threads per page you have), and with multiple repost threads they get pushed back much quicker and possibly not viewed due to time contraints for potential buyers/thread derailers( ). There are some cool books being offered (FTs continuous thread, Dales current CGC thread, Borock's multiple offerings, and many more) that stand the chance of being buried long before they have a chance to get viewed. Now I don't deny the benefit of long threads being reposted to make it easier to review what's left if the seller feels that a simple list at the end of a thread isn't good enough, but maybe there is some compromise that could be reached, maybe a certain time period before the same books get reposted in a new thread, maybe 7 days. Any thoughts?
  15. Yep, Borock did nothing wrong....JC didn't like that someone defended Borock (for not doing anything wrong?) and felt the need to carry that conversation here. Why not, this is the guidelines comment thread and saying that Borock shouldn't get the preferential treatment some were suggesting was better posted here than in his thread. So neither were wrong. Sure thing...maybe we need a guideline that states that the guidelines apply to everyone! Well obviously, because at least one person stated otherwise, correct?

  17. That particular iisue has always happened to me with the VCC Discussion Thread but not other threads. Odd.
