Oh, geez...the hype never ends. Less than 30 have sold so far...and there are probably a hundred more on their way to the 'bay next week as soon as the con ends and sellers return home to their computers. Don't worry, there will be PLENTY available for less than $100 as soon as sellers start undercutting each other for the quick sale. And...if you're that sure that it's worth $200 and you want to put your money where your hype is, I'll sell you one right now. Just let me know. ;-)

There were badjillions of these printed. Everyone I saw buying them in the shops was buying 2 copies. This sounds weird. This sounds like 1992. Oh, no, wait...back then, everyone was buying 200 copies.

And...here's an interesting point of comparison: WD 1, the start of it all, has a print run of only 7000 or so...while WD 19, first Michonne, which is a key but is also much less significant than issue 1, has a print run of 17k+. And yet...despite the disparity in both print run and importance, WD 1 is in the $1300 range as a CGC 9.8, while WD 19 is about $800 at the moment. I don't know if issue 1 is undervalued, 19 is overvalued, or both, but...I think there should be more separation between the two.

I'm not so sure about 27. It's hot now as everyone rushes to pick it up before the Governor appears in season three...but really, how important is the Governor? He was in...what? Maybe 13 issues? Great story, to be sure, but I don't know if it will hold this kind of value very long. IMO, with the deaths of Lori, Hershel, the Governor (and Patricia!), issue 48 is much more significant. Cooler cover, too. ;-)

AGREED. Take the lack of secondary market interest in issue 95...multiply that lack of interest by 10...and see where that gets you on 96-102. And...once speculators take a bath on these issues, I think we will certainly see some correction in back issue prices, as I think at least half of the recent movement is directly related to speculation rather than new collectors/new readers.

I can't believe that book sells as high as it does considering the print run.

Sorry, not sure I catch the reference to NM 98. What was the print run on that book? You are saying you would be unhappy if you could buy one for less than $100...?

The print run on issue 27 was over 19k, I believe, and that was well before the TV show. I thought it had been over 30k for awhile now.

You definitely know something is hot when each and every cover is being gobbled up, regardless of quality. There are (were) a number of covers sitting unsold for months on end...now anything/everything is selling...and at a noticeable premium. When things get hot like this, most consumers seem to lose the ability to discern between great, good, and mediocre...and they lose sight of the most important factor...QUALITY.

Ever met a fellow named Mmehdy? I have no idea what (or who) you are talking about. I am guessing, though, that this is some sort of swipe at me 'cause I'm not drooling over this page like everyone else, and I'm not toeing the party line. Am I in trouble now for offering a minority opinion...? It's totally cool if you like this page, and feel free to spend as much on it as you like. At least you don't have to worry about me bidding against you. ;-)

There are only 6 issues with Tony's art that exist. That's not artificial scarcity, that's ACTUAL scarcity. Also, if it was overpriced it would never sell in the first place. The fact that someone bought it or resold it negates the possibility that it's overpriced. It's not a gallon of gas that can be purchased on any street corner, but you already knew that. The artificial scarcity comes into play in the fact that Tony's prices have always been so ridiculously high that even now, 10 years later, he probably still has more than half of the pages in his possession. So, in any normal situation, there would be a full 132 pages in circulation right now. Instead, there are probably only half as many, each and every one of which was purchased at an eye-popping price at the time. If the pages were really worth that much, they would have all sold long ago. But...the art was never priced at a point where everyone would buy a page...the price has always been priced at a point where MAYBE there is one person out there crazy enough to pay the primary price. You're right, though...it's not a gallon of gas (though they are both flammable).

Am I the only one who finds this page positively pedestrian and not even remotely interesting? It's a drawing of a guy in a hospital bed. I understand the "significance" of the page, but that doesn't change the fact that it's not much to look at. And...I also think the market for Tony's OA is way overvalued as a result of the artificial scarcity that Tony has created over the years by overpricing all of his work. If you are going to spend 4k+ on a piece of OA, at least get something cool to look at! Hang this on the wall and get ready for the confused looks of those that visit. If the art is strong enough, it shouldn't need an explanation.

How else does a book get listed in this thread? Someone lists it, it sales, its gets noticed and its gets talked about here. If all I do is break even, no harm no foul. If I they sell for me, then I made a lil profit. Ive seen a few people talk about doing this and posting their results here. If you dont like it, click ignore. Question 1: Is this English? Question 2: You haven't sold anything yet, have you? If so, and it sold better than expected, then feel free to share your results. Otherwise, though...I'm planning on wiping my bum later, but I don't see how my future plans are relevant to this thread unless that also relates to current hot eBay sales.

Here's a better question...what's the point of letting us know that you plan to buy WD back issues to sell on eBay? That's great if you can make a profit, but...how is that relevant to the conversation...?

IMO, 53 is definitely the most overvalued. My choice for undervalued would be 1 and 48.

53 is certainly heating up (jumped from $15 to $50 in one week), but I honestly don't get it. Is Abraham really that popular? 53 is now on par with 48....and honestly, I much prefer 48. Not really close, either.
