My goal this year is to complete my Batman 2-10 run. I wish my goal for this was last September when this #2 sold for $15,600. I just bid $20,040 and got immediately shot down.

Did you get a SGT Fury 142 35 center in the collection?
No. I didn't get any of the super rare ones.

I've been on the boards for 18 years. I read a lot but rarely post unless I have some significant value to ad. This time I have no value to ad. I just wanted to make a post.

It was either 1988 or 1989 when I had a booth selling at SDCC that I was asked if they could photograph a few of my comics for the Photo Journal. I was surprised when my name made the book in the list of contributors.
I remember 2 comics specifically. Famous Funnies #17 & #18. Back then the 17 would be called NM, today's standards easily a 9.0. The only flaw was a 1/4" bindery tear at bottom of spine.
The comic was stolen a few months later at the Bruce Schwartz LA show. Gone forever but located in 1999 on eBay auction. I messaged the seller asking how he got the comic book, but I didn't get the answer I was looking for.
I guess I expected him to say I stole it from your booth at the LA comic show. Anyway, I never told him it was stolen years ago. If I ever see it again for sale, I will try and buy it. If anyone knows who owns it I would like to buy it.
The LA shows at the Ambassador Hotel and later at the Shrine Auditorium were awesome in the 80's but thieves were everywhere.

Congratulations! Cool comic.
What a bummer. I was happy for you. Hopefully this scammer gets caught.
At least you know what it feels like to have a grail even if only for a couple days.

3 purchases I made this year that I really like are these.
I started buying Amazing Spider-Man off the stands with issue #153 and was hooked. When I noticed this #158 page come to auction recently it was from an issue I greatly remember reading in my early days of collecting.
Ross Andru is the Spider-Man artist of my time. I love this page and according to a thread started in Original Art I probably overpaid. Not sure how you put a price on comic art when it has a special meaning to you. I actually had a max bid of $6000 above what I won it for. Now you OA guys know who bought it.
Next are the twins. No special meaning on these. I had a FOOM subscription but after FOOM 10.
FOOM 10 colors are better than the picture
I never saw the GS 1 at my local drugstore as I'm sure I would have bought it back in the day. Got one now.

I bought the Thorsen maybe 4 years ago for $40k and sold it a year ago for $46k. I thought at the time it should have gone for more, but this most current price of $33k is ridiculous.
Since I mostly follow Timely these days, I noticed the Caps did well. Overstreet jumped the prices on the 46 Holocaust cover pretty dramatically, but last night's 2.5 still went for 4 times OPG. The 37 (best cover of the run, IMHO) went for 7 times OPG, which is similar to the one Heritage sold in their event auction last week. The 33 went for a whopping 13 times OPG, which outperformed Heritage.
On the Tec 35, seller not happy, buyer very happy.

The reason I didn't go as low as 1.5 is the spine is still partially together. I've seen comics present as nice as this one with the cover completely split get a 1.5.
I say 3.0 and it should look really nice after dry cleaned.

Still long gone. Maybe one day it'll surface.

The Complete New Adventure Run, At Long Last
in Golden Age Comic Books
Posted
In trying to describe how a thread like this impacts us as fans of the hobby, anything I say will fall short of how important this run of comics is that you have put together.
Congratulations on this accomplishment and thanks for sharing. We are in awe!
