Here's a fair warning for those taking threads off topic

One exception should be the raffle thread though. That’s just fun silliness and I hope the mods know that…. -
Here's a fair warning for those taking threads off topic
comicginger1789 replied to CGC Mike's topic in Comics General
As long as the mods understand that sometimes a thread evolves. But I agree if a thread asks a question or has a point and then it becomes a dumping ground for pages of memes, gifs and gifememery then I understand. People posting here should offer more than just jokes. They should contribute to the discussion of comics, CGC and all things associated. There are some definite notorious posters who just post jokes and rarely anything of value. And while occasionally funny, if I went without their posts I don’t think I’d mind -

PGM ASM 44 ***GRADE IS IN***
comicginger1789 replied to WilliamLunt's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
6.5 or so from me as well. -
Black Light…the visual guide to all things LB Cole. And while I’m at it I’d plaster the walls with images of his covers

Call them. Tell CGC you sent a book you don’t want them to grade but have another instead. They will advise you what to do.

Book collecting seems harder today then it was last year
comicginger1789 replied to Bluemedgroup's topic in Comics General
Honestly, these last two years I scored some amazing books and more books/collections than ever before. And I do not feel like I overpaid at all for anything I bought (other than foolishly not trusting my gut and thinking ASM 361 had room to grow and it didn’t when I bought a copy for speculation fun). -

Selling CBCS graded comics.
comicginger1789 replied to Redshade's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
I left my CGC slab with a CBCS slab for ONE night and in the morning, there was a baby PGX slab. The CBCS slab also went out for reholdering….and never came back -
I'll venture a smidge better at 5.0-5.5. Stain marks on back aren't terrible, looks like someone with chocolate fingers touched it once upon a time

Ton of Noob questions!
comicginger1789 replied to Whisper's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Welcome back to comics! If you named which state you are in (or province) I am sure someone could recommend a good presser and cleaner. As for getting some books graded, the ASM 298, 299 and 300 are great candidates. Not personally a fan of Alpha Flight but if you are, then slab away. Finally, a lot of the apps haven't made the distinction between newsstand and direct because, for a lot of books, it doesn't matter. Yes there are newsstand collectors but generally for run-of-the-mill books, they value them the same (maybe a couple bucks more) than their direct counterparts. The only real bump you see in newsstand books is on key issues, especially ones later into the 80 and early 90s. As for that potential volume error, you'd probably have to share more about what book it is and a photo and people could shed some light. Lots of minor print error stuff like that out there. Take this error from the late 70s where the issue did not print on the comic Neat...but because there are a ton out there, the value really isn't there, despite people advertising as such. It seems to take a unique error like double covers or even upside down covers or inks totally changing the colour scheme of a cover (like Fantastic Four 110) for collectors to really go ga ga for oddities like that. There are enough sites out there too if you search "error comics" that highlight the ones that sell for decent money. -
