  1. From what I can see, this is what, a $10-20 book online?!?! Am I missing something? Grading will cost you $40-50 all in and you would be banking on a 9.8 getting you maybeeeeeeeeee what, $100? I wouldn't unless, as I mentioned, I am missing something like this being a variant cover or something
  2. 9.0 at least...probably higher and I think a press could smooth out the corner bends and sharpen this book up nicely
  3. A cleaning would clean up a LOT of that dirt and a press would help some of the spine indents. I think 6.0 is obtainable after this...
  4. Very sad. I am curious about a couple thing though about this unfortunate situation...like how long did this take to happen? And where were they exactly? In front of a large window with the sun beaming in? And as to answering your question, I would expect 5.0 range now for both, possibly lower. It is a fair amount of fade and I don't know that it makes it into the Fine zone.
  5. 7.5-8.0 That corner crease, although minor, is still noticeable enough. I have one on my ASM 238 that is very very small and that book got a 9.0
  6. I wish I was Kang so I could travel back in time and save myself scrolling through this thread
  7. Right? I don’t think it’s was a $300-400 Nm raw book until these last couple years but it was still a $200 high grade book pre covid which struck me as bizarre. It’s not like a mile Morales or x-23 or kamela khan who have loads of fans and are popular and are similar eras. Yet this book is right behind those…
  8. I just find it somewhat of an anomaly. A character that had this series (and not much after to my knowledge) that commands such a premium and did so pretty much right away after release….
  9. Hi all! I have a question. Adam Legend of the Blue Marvel #1 is a sought after and very valuable book and I am trying to determine why. Prior to the Wandavision show (during which rumours sprung up about potentially seeing the character's alter ego in the show), this book was still a valuable book and sought after book. I read the first issue. It wasn't bad but felt like a commentary I have read before. The character design isn't bad but doesn't blow me away, nor does the artwork on the series. This ish had a print run of 17000 which is low for the time. My question is is the value solely based on low print and a number 1, with an appearance of a new character? Are there huge fans of this otherwise unknown character? I am just curious is all I plan on reading the other issues but wanted to ask this before I dove in.
  10. 9.2-9.4 after press. Leave the nub. Get a press as there is a slight curl to the book down the spine and a press with leave this baby flatter a Saskatchewan flapjack
  11. 6.5 from me I always undergrade GA books though so would not be shocked to see 7.0-7.5
  12. I'm sorry but is this really a thread? Are you really asking if you should exercise patience or continue to nag the person? Perspective...any seller, be it someone who runs a business or someone like me who sells books to fund my collection, is living life. I have kids, a job and lots of other things that in reality, take precedence over comics. Sometimes I am able to reply instantly to requests or inquiries about books. Sometimes I see the request, say "hey I will get back tomorrow" and then tomorrow starts with an unplanned work meeting, followed by getting home to find the kids had a rough day and my wife deserves a break so rather than tend to comics for second, I handle the kids, then make supper then am beat and just wanna relax after they are in bed by watching some television with my wife. So that "hey I will get back to you tomorrow" is now another day. I think sometimes buyers (for whatever reason), think that a delayed response is on purpose....it's not. It's like reading a text message. People read text messages (and even messages here) with whatever tone THEY believe. Don't ever do that because you will always create drama and concern and problems that don't actually exist. I try my hardest to not leave people hanging for multiple days but reality is, if this person is like me (or even someone running a business, especially one where on top of managing the online world, they are also managing a store or shop) I can imagine your message getting pushed aside in favour of people actually visiting the shop. Remember, you may be a legit potential buyer online but guarantee this seller has had hundreds of "hey I'm interested" messages that go nowhere. And again, if they only sell online, well it is likely a very busy time of year. In conclusion, you have sent two messages. Give him a few days. Send another message on Monday or over the weekend, stressing it as a friendly reminder of your interest and how you want the book. And if it's not meant to be, move along and continue the hunt.
  13. What do want?!?! Graded book results! When do we want them?!?! 2 weeks-12 months from now!
  14. Some spine tickery happening. Believe it or not, the killer will be that slight edge tanning or browning to the bottom edge. 7.5 or so from me.
  15. What's that Lassie? Timmy jumped in the well after he found out his books he sent to CGC in January wouldn't be back until October and he missed the window to sell West Coast Avengers 45 for a record high?! Oh and book looks 9.0ish to me.
  16. You know what is crazy? I saw this cover and I don't think I have actually looked at this cover in my life. Like I can picture 20, with Owl swooping down, and 22 with Tri Man and then issues after with Kazar and Gladiator and Stilt Man and Leap Frog and so on. But this one I feel like I've never seen in my mind or committed to my mental image bank lol. Anyway, who cares about that...a grade! Um...moderate spine wear, an unfortunate edge chip. Without the chip, maybe 6.0 but with it, 5.0 or so.
  17. See this is why I am tempted to start sending some of my Silver Age stuff in. It seems that, like Golden Age books, these are starting to get a little lenient (which maybe is a bad thing). Reality though, the major flaws with this book are the wear spots along the spine and the top edge at the back. I hammered both, but CGC seems less forgiving, especially when the rest of the book (cover, leading corners) appear generally flawless. I do think the press smoothed it out. The staple wear had me wondering how back it really was. Either way....awesome book....awesome grade....I still need one someday. One I should have checked off the ole Spidey list long ago but didn't
  18. I would NOT....repeat...NOT waste the money getting it graded. Sell raw for $60-90 and be done with it if returning is off the table. And if the listing showed the flaw in the pics then technically, kind of your error for missing it. It happens. Live and learn and keep collecting!
  19. Two ways to prevent from my experience... First, use short boxes. I have found they are better at preventing this as there arent as many comics squarshing or leaning on each other. Second, alternating the comics so the spine of one is facing the cover of another (have book facing back, following by book facing front and alternating). Annoying to flip through but if you are just storing them and rarely going through the box, it works and personally I don't mind this appraoch as I have labels on my backing boards so if I can see the cover, I can read the backing board info I have.
  20. So with Sandman, I don't know if that lot commands a premium. I would think buyers would expect a discount. Some series (first Punisher limited comes to mind) seem to do well when sold as a lot and sometimes sell for better money than individually. And then you have runs (for example let's say Spider-Woman from the 70s) where people would probably also expect a bargain simply because the only issue most people who aren't Spider-Woman diehards want is issue 1. A few go after the X-Men crossover issues as they are earlier appearances of the new team so separating those to get max value and then selling the rest as a discount, I think, would be the better route. It also depends on condition too. If the Spider-Woman 1 was low grade or even mid grade, lotting it up with the rest might yield the best result.
  21. This concerns me Would def want a closer look at that area on the front as it appears to be colour touched. Would be the difference between a blue/purple label, as I think the book hits 4.0-4.5 either way.
