That's disappointing to hear.  I had no intention of taking these to CGC after facing the same premiums last year but I still would have loved a raw copy.  I saw so many copies on eBay by Thursday for like $50-$60.  I should be saving my money anyways so I guess it's a good thing I wasn't able to get one.  (Same with Alex Ross' Immortal Hulk SDCC exclusive).

FYI the ASM variants are still available on his site (they went on sale today at noon): https://jscottcampbell.com/collections/jsc-exclusive-covers/products/amazing-spider-man-14-j-scott-campbell-exclusive?variant=23490849603642

Black Cat variants sold out though.

Whats funny is that I used to run a site that did all of this. Even let you use tags and keep track of how much you spent and how much your collection was worth. I charged $2 a month and still couldn't get enough people to sign up. I built it because I wanted all those tools. Apparently not enough collectors out there that are looking for this.

I've sort of stalled on developing my own (just for personal use). Is it something you'd be willing to share?

I never look at Rotten Tomatoes television ratings, but that's interesting.  Why would critics bash it in reviews but Emmy voters lavish it with more award nominations than any show in television history?  ???

They're just nominations, not wins. There could be a lot of reasons why, but the biggest probably is that the only real complaint about the season was the writing. Everything else was top notch.

There's a new trend of popular films or shows being lavished with critical acclaim that fans complain about vociferously.  First it was Last Jedi, now Game of Thrones season 8.  I don't remember ever seeing this before those two examples, but I'm sure I'm unaware of or forgetting something.  hm

Every season of GoT is rated above 90% on Rotten Tomatoes except for season 8, which is at 58%. I wouldn't call that critical acclaim.

I might be more inclined to agree with you if @GEEzusWalks was themselves raising this stink. As it stands, it's not like the seller is lobbying to be removed. There are people arguing on his behalf, but he is strangely quiet. Personally, that feels like "Ok, I'm caught, let's just make this go away." If they truly felt wronged, I'm sure they'd be in here lobbying along with you. I suppose it's true that a bad precedent could be set either way. As it stands, I'm inclined to side with the Probation Worthy side. If a seller wants to pull shenanigans, there are plenty of places to do so. But the boards have been heavy policed, and therefore honest, as long as I have been here. If we're on a slippery slope, I'd prefer it be on the side of being overly cautious.

That's a very good point. I am more inclined to give the benefit of the doubt if the history is clean, but I think there is merit to this as well.

Seller lists book. Book is claimed. Seller claims book is lost, refunds money, deletes pics from the thread, then claims pics and all other evidence of the book were deleted to free up space on their hard drive. It's...fishy. Not Hall of Shame/ban worthy, but worth making note of all the same, right?

There was an opportunity given for the seller to get off the list, if they could provide pics of the slab that were used in the listing, in the event that the book should ever show up for sale again somewhere else. Seller said that they'd already deleted the pics to make room on their hard drive, or whatever. So, they were given an out from the PL, and a pretty simple one at that, but of course could not comply. So on the list they stayed.

Probation list isn't the same as Hall of Shame. The seller can continue to do business, if anyone wants to buy from them. And I'm sure some folks will, because, you know, cool books. But PL is a warning to potential buyers that this seller is either 1. a liar or 2. capable of losing a book less than a day after listing it for sale, then lacking the foresight to hang onto the evidence while the transaction is being disputed. Neither is great. I've lost books before, it happens. But the chain of events following the transaction, and the seller's responses, don't paint a picture of honesty.

While that may be true, there is no concrete proof that the seller was being dishonest. And if they really did lose the book and delete the pictures, how are they supposed to provide pictures to get them off the PL? I agree that something seems off, but in the case that they are telling the truth they are left with literally no recourse. And let's be honest here - this is essentially a ban. How many sales threads are started by PL members? And how many threads by other members state by default that they won't sell to users on the PL?

Did the seller do something wrong? I don't know, maybe they did. Do they deserve to be put on a list that for all intents and purposes prevents them from ever conducting business on the forums? That seems a bit extreme to me.

Did Edith disable the drones entirely?  All I heard her say was that their illusions were down.  They could still be classified as "active" yet still not be projecting their holography since they have multiple functions.

That seems unlikely. At that point Mysterio no longer had control over Edith, so he wouldn't have access to download any illusions or know how many drones are active.

I had the EXACT same thought you did.  So I agree, it's entirely unclear what happened with him.

So I went and saw it for a third time yesterday. Update on my theory:

    Spoiler

I noticed that when he was downloading the illusion to the thumb drive his screen said "Active Drones: 500". This was after Edith had disabled all the drones and they started leaving the area.

So yeah - Mysterio is definitely still alive.

If I'm not mistaken, this was true even back in his second appearance in ASM #1.  He attempted to join the Fantastic Four (hence their appearance on the cover.  I'm pretty sure the story ends with Spidey leaving dejected after finding out that the Fantastic Four don't take a paycheck for the adventures they go on or any of their super heroics.  Someone correct me if I've got that wrong.  But that is interesting and something I hadn't considered.  Thanks.

    100% accurate.

I do wonder which direction they will take with Spider-man moving forward as it relates to Spider-man's identity getting leaked.  Two main options:

-They can deny it.  In fact, they can make a pretty solid case considering the world at large doesn't know the Skrulls exist.  A Skrull could take Peter's form while Peter suits up and does Spidey stuff while the two are in clear view of each other.  They've done similar stuff in the comics.  If I remember correctly Matt Murdock was on trial and people were accusing him of being Daredevil.  While Matt was on the stand, Peter walked in wearing a Daredevil outfit and did a bunch of flips and such to throw people off the trail.  Or maybe I have it backwards and Matt dressed up like Spidey, but you get the gist.

-They can turn into the skid.  While this would mess with Peter's personal life the most, I don't see his Super-hero life changing all that much.  In fact, it'd probably be easier if he didn't have to be so discreet at the time.  After all, the whole planet knew who Iron Man and Captain America were.  In fact, the only time people seemed to go after loved ones was when Tony basically dared them to on national television.  I can see Aunt May moving into wherever the Avengers make their base now (an adult Mary Jane did this in the comics when Peter made his identity public).  I suppose the biggest liability is MJ, which seems like the obvious move for the next bad guy.

More than anything, I want to see Flash's reaction to the news.  :roflmao:

I mentioned it earlier in this thread, but they could use the Prowler like they did in the comics. Technically he's already been introduced with Donald Glover, but I don't know how likely they would be to bring him back.

In the comics she had this fake persona which she used to keep people from seeing the real person underneath... to stop her from ever really getting close to anyone or anyone getting close to her.

Back in the 60's that fake persona was of a bubbly party girl.  Here it's more of someone who is a dark, weird moody loner.

But in both cases we come to find that she has a background that caused her to push people away and made it hard for her to get close to people... and when you get through all that noise she's actually smart, funny, and fierce.  This really cool woman completely worthy of Peter (and not someone who needs to keep getting rescued as in the previous movie iterations).

THAT'S what I mean. What she looks like.... the fact that she's Michelle Jones instead of Mary Jane.... that stuff doesn't matter to me.  Like I said, by the end of the movie, this character felt very much like MJ to me.

    Hope that explains it.

I completely agree - well said!
