  1. I watched MOS again earlier today (as a tuneup for BvS) and was surprised how much I thoroughly enjoyed the film this time around. It was almost like seeing it for the first time Pretty much NO complaints from me... I really liked general zod. He so looks like he has some chew in his mouth when he is speaking though(work with a lot of guys who chew).
  2. WOW! thanks Barton for the heads up loving it! Now that its paid for i feel good about and after this
  3. wow. great buy, super nice edges- first impression 9.6 - based on FC don't see it as less than 9.4 - coupls spine ticks but the rest is
  4. what it go for? $20,250- that last second bidder cost me $1250
  5. I can relate as this copy has a baby brother that i give a lot of attention to as my reader copy. I try to tell it to stay just the way you are don't ever grow up!
  6. yeah made me wonder if it is a lost green river copy
  7. Thanks Dan . Trade it for your 6.0 AF 15! I really do appreciate the kinds words from you guys because in a few minutes I have to get on the phone and pay for this prize- hearing how nice it is from other collectors is reassuring.
  8. Thanks! I feel its a buyers market for FF1 right now. Typically a white paged copy like this would command a nice premium. This went for under 2015 GPA so I am pleased.
  9. i still think they will bring him back some way. Would seem odd for him not to be the joker. Could there really have been two guys in gotham that fit the description? My favorite episode by far is the riddler "origin" episode where he finally realizes he was meant to be a psychopath. wondering if that episode had a different writer/screenplay as I thought it was superior in a lot of ways.
  10. Your concerns would be slightly justified when I read the #1 item that showed there was a fracture amongst the MCC. And what caused the fracture between Marvel and Fox. Now I get why Feige was a little clueless on Elektra's rights being returned in 2014 or not. He wasn't focused on the Daredevil Universe. Well lets just say I am more concerned about the universe being handed over to 1 man's vision than I am about disbanding the team. Would rather see another team formed than just have one guy run the show. My opinion is it's just too big and things well ineviably be mishandled this way. At least Feige tried to get back the FF. Reaquiring the rights to the FF should be top priority especially given the x-men are a lost cause for the immediate future as their movies are still profitable. The early FF was the cornerstone of the marvel age. Clever and strategic use of this team should be a very solid contribution to the cinematic universe as I think they can be portrayed quite differently from the avengers and add a nice touch of diversity to the action. Doom alone would be reason for celebration.
  11. need to buy a new clothespin - want to be prepared for another DC stinker!
  12. Congrats and welcome to the club! Very nice copy with white PQ and a well-centered cover. I've seen so many JIM 83's out there with the cover's right edge cut short, even affecting as far as the "MC" box, let alone the Comics Code stamp. And those were all legit printing defects! this is a pretty nice copy my 5.5 is cut short on the right edge due to a miswrap. While i wouldn't go so far as to say this looks nicer than my book due to the creasing but having a nice wrap and the number block fully intact enhances the presentation for sure.
  13. purchased this 9 years ago - only good deal i ever got at a comic shop-$200
  14. how have they respected the material? Stark is the creator of all tech Hawkeye has a family Mutants don't exist, They are Inhumans What's worse is that the movies have changed the comics  I'm not saying its perfect. I think a good example of other studios disrespect is taking doctor doom and giving him weird super powers because they weren't willing or didn't think portraying him as he was in the comics was viable. I would be shocked if marvel did that. On the flip side Look at Asgard and the whole first Thor movie, I find it hard to believe another studio would attempt that let alone succeed. I thought it was a big leap of faith in their characters. The tech issue may be somewhat contractual in nature. Hard to believe they wouldn't be giving Reed Richards his due as a scientific and tech genius. The mutant issue is purely contractual someone else owns the right to the word mutant at this time. I am willing to admit not being a big hawkeye fan I am not aware why him having a family is such a big departure from the character. I read the hawkeye limted series like 30 years ago but i'll be darned if I can remember a word of it.
  15. whoever got rid of Howard made a big mistake. He was perfect as Rhodey imo. Not sold yet on disbanding the team. I don't care how knowledgable you are putting together a film version of the marvel universe is a big task. I am concerned that the big picture might suffer in the long run from it being just one mans vision. Its critical the movies try to remain true to the marvel universe as the first gen films did. I think these films changed the superhero formula in movies by not disrespecting the source material like other studios did. I just think in previous efforts studios were often dismissive of many elements of the heroes as they believed this or that might look okay in a comic book but won't work in the movies. It just came across to me that marvel really loved its heroes, believed in them, their supporting cast, and the universe around them. Effort was being taken to make the parts fit smoothly with the big picture in mind not just a cash grab with the idea that the run will be spent in a trilogy so grab what you can and get out.
  16. I'll support that being a Subby fan I might have liked #5 better if I readit first as it is a true classic but I bought a fair condition #4 at a little con in Seattle for $80 - it was the first early FF I ever read and it blew me away. Love the way he was discovered as a hobo suffering from amnesia and I love subby's' prophecy of doom about driving mankind back to being cave dwellers.
  17. The big difference is that the outer plastic is recessed from the edges, which brings the plastic much closer to the book. I'm guessing that's what reduces the glare (although I only have two examples so far). Here's the other (non River City ) that I had reholdered: The new holder looks interesting. I wanted to see on in person at ECCC but didn't see any. Was thinking about picking up a copy of this book. How are the stories in this one? Average for the run or better? One nice way to check it out for yourself cheaply is to grab this reprint: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tales-from-the-Crypt-1992-Russ-Cochran-Gemstone-6-VF-/361532658088?hash=item542d0691a8:g:PgkAAOSwiylXDFsZ In my book, the stories are all pleasing and above average for the run. Here's a synopsis of them: http://www.comics.org/issue/8712/ thanks
  18. 4000 posts! I thought I would celebrate it here with a rare marvel collectible featuring the amazing!
  19. Now that was just his former snootiness being replaced by grim determination once he realized how deep he was in over his head.
  20. AF15's are only going up in value (And most likely that trend will never stop...in my opinion comic books will enter the world of art at auction in the long run...and some ugly paintings sell for over 100$ million dollars). Buy one while you can. And if you can't afford one anymore buy a Hulk #1 can't go wrong with that issue either. As you probbaly already know Spider-Man will be in the up coming Captain America Movie and then will join the Avengers. This will make AF15 even more in demand if that is even possible. As much as I would love to see it continue to rise in value, I assume there is a ceiling. A lot of kids younger than the age of 20, have no desire to drop that type of cash on the book. They may appreciate it, but have been priced out and rather spend their money on other things. It won't be a while until they have the disposable cash needed to drop on higher priced books. I have a feeling that as the current collectors get older and need to dispose of their prized possessions or their kids try to sell them off to collect their inheritance there will be a massive correction, by how much and when, is to be determined, but definitely not an infinite ceiling. I see your point however I feel in the case of characters like Spider-man who have reached true iconic status in popular culture there will always be enough members in any new generation to carry the torch and buy in to the value of a book like this. Imo it will go on to be a treasured art form of the 20th century with the sky being the limit. This is not to say there won't be price corrections along the way but i suspect these will just prove to be bumps in the road in the big picture. Now lesser comics with value will certainly be subjected to strong corrections generationally as they fail to make the leap from one generation to another and interest wanes. Time will tell.
