  1. Cool cover on an under the radar type of book
  2. I can remember worrying back in 2009 that I had overpaid for this copy on Heritage. http://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/superhero/the-brave-and-the-bold-28-justice-league-of-america-dc-1960-cgc-vg-fn-50-off-white-pages/a/110031-11097.s?ic3=ViewItem-Auction-Archive-BrowseThisAuction-120115
  3. The price difference reflects the expectation of a lower grade for a resubbed book from CBCS to CGC I have yet to confirm this myself - just repeating sentiment from other boardies. This seems to be true. I would add though I bought a cbcs 6.0 x-men 4 that I think is every bit as nice as any cgc 6.0 I have purchased. So they can competently grade and I personally do have some confidence in their primary grader. Still it does seem CGC has been grading tighter than them as of late. I think it's a win for the collector/ investor/ flipper. CGC having some legit competition forces them to make sure their product is the best on the market while the other company presents an opportunity to attain books at better prices. The flip game is a tricky one here as these companies grade a little differently. I am looking for opportunities but also exercising patience. Flipping is all about how much you paid for it. Right but I think some flippers will try to purchase CBCS books at a price significantly lower price point than the grade would attain if it was a CGC graded book, crack it open send to CGC and get it back and find CGC graded it .5 to 1 point lower thus destroying and profit margin they were hoping to gain by re-certifying with the premiere brand. Obviously a swing the other way could be a huge win for the flipper. Maybe that wouldn't be a true flip in one sense but I think some will be tempted to invest the extra time and expense on higher dollar books hoping to come out significantly ahead.
  4. I could be in the minority here with this opinion, but I don't care what Overstreet says about mega keys AT ALL. It's (to me) a completely irrelevant number. I abandoned Overstreet over 10 years ago. I use GPA and what isee at the major sites to determine value. Back in the day Overstreet's values were so far off I was totally convinced it was just a dealers tool for buying collections- They could offer a collector guide for a really sweet collection knowing they were gonna charge 4X that when reselling. Whatever the intentions were it just wasn't accurate enough for me to be bothered with it. Did He tighten up the values in recent years?
  5. i can't wait to crack this open and read it:
  6. solid grading and books. An A-list seller.

  8. I am seeing quite a few soft market values right now. Picked up a sweet CGC 8.5 spidey 39 for $135 below GPA and a x-men 4 CBCS 6.0(yes it CBCS but looked like a 7.0) for $200 under GPA. Seems to be a buyers market right now on a lot of material. Its about time the growth has been so insane the last decade.
  9. won this classic on the last c-link auction(well below GPA -WOOT!)- will liberate from its tomb and thinking about posting the "batboy and rubin" here. Its too great for any EC fan to miss
  10. just make sure you read the free graders notes from CBCS as they do things a little differently than CGC. I was looking at a CBCS 7.0 FF1 on the last comiclink focused auction and was thinking of doing just that. Bidding went beyond the sweet spot where i felt i couldn't be hurt by winning so I was pretty sure i was going to pass. I also checked the graders notes and saw the top staple was detached from cover and was very glad i didn't bid. CGC qualified grade on a resub? IDK but glad i didn't mess around.
  11. With Batman looking like to be the leader of the Justice League his popularity will continue to grow. I don't know what they can do to make Superman cool with modern audiences? He has had three chances this last decade. Superman Returns Man of Steel Batman vs. Superman I like Superman, but unfortunately the modern movie going audiences don't share my enthusiasm. For one thing the whole Lois Lane is in trouble and superman to the rescue theme is beyond redundant. Another issue is superman is too powerful. I think he would be more interesting if there was more than one way to beat him in a fight. They need to take away some of his powers and just have some movies where Lois doesn't factor in to the hero aspect of the plot for starters. Then they should change his uniform and have him say "shazam" everytime he wants to transform into his super self -Problem fixed WT Lets have a drink and talk abought this The last time the devil poured me a drink it got a little crazy...
  12. I predict it cracks 1 billion but just barely. word of mouth willl eventually catch up to it. A lot of people really dislike it, some like it, a small minority is excited about it but it still is doing much better with audiences than critics at this point.
  13. i speculate strong sales until the JLA movie release then a plateau afterwards- sound familiar?
  14. What are your thoughts on people who just post (or other emoticons) in dozens, if not hundreds of threads? 3 words come to mind just can't help it but long time bordies remember- greggy versus deathlok No idea. Paraphrase it? massive gremlin wars - pages long- i think my first ever wlecome to the boards type post got taken over by several pages of them going at it. Was a daily occurrence, well multiple times a day until Arch and the mods cracked down on it.

  17. Like i said Mitch if a 9.0 w page was for sale of Tec 27 it would blow the Action 1 sale away. There are no high grade Tec 27 out there for sale but Batman is better by a long shot. I like tec 27 better myself. Its very popular but I always kind of thought the big dogs who buy these books get caught up in superman being the one that started it all and therefore value it more.
  18. $170 million domestic -$420 mil worldwide opening is strong enough. They won't be canceling the JLA movie
