  1. Loved working with Bob! Great communication throughout and aside from a great deal he threw in some freebies for my son. I look forward to working with Bob again!
  2. Appreciate the history you included on this book. It's a beauty! Good luck with the sale!
  3. I've always liked CL. Good selection, easy website, good customer service the 2 or 3 times I've called. But the back cover thing has always seemed odd. It's really a minimum expectation for high end books.
  4. My thought - this is obviously a life's work. It took decades of diligent collecting. If he was after top dollar, he could have broken it up. My guess is, he wants it to go to a collector who will appreciate it rather than a flipper who will break it up. I could be wrong. Just speculating. Pretty wild collection.
  5. I'm pretty new to the boards and my opinion and post count probably don't hold much water. That said, I'm very empathetic with comic shop owners under these unusual circumstances. The more platforms for shops to sell right now, the better. If it's been a decade and he's square with everyone he wronged I don't think he should be black listed. Just my opinion.
  6. I was probably at that show. I was finishing high school and working at Kmart in CT. My buddies and I would take the train from New Haven to grand Central and go to the conventions. It was before eBay was fully mature and conventions were all about buying books. Lots of fun.
  7. Yeah, I'm going to purchase it. They've been good to me over the years and these are unique times. I figure I'll pull the trigger and then bring them some books to have slabbed which I know helps them out with CGC. The book is incredible hulk 2 by the way.
  8. It's a tough call. As a hobbyist, I like batman more than superman. But even as as kid. Action 1 was the iconic collectible comic. I'm not sure which I would rather own, but luckily for me, it's not a decision I'll ever have to make. As for SA, JIM83 and Hulk 1 were always my favorite covers. I've been fortunate enough to get both of them (although I'd like to upgrade my JIM83). I prioritized those over AF15, but I do hope to get an AF15 one day. It is the staple of SA collecting. I need to step back from big purchases for a little bit, but FF1 is likely the next significant book for me.
  9. I'll start by saying, I highly value your opinion seeing many of your other posts and sales threads. I also watched your video to open a slabbed book. My process didn't go as smoothly as yours.... What do you suggest using for valuable golden age? I just bought mylite magazine sized top loaders. Do you think I'm better off leaving them bagged and boarded? Or triple boarded as others suggested? Presentation is less important than protection to me.
  10. I think it's comic shops temporarly being locked down and looking for ways to make some sales. I know the shop I go to has been listing books all day. I'm considering buying a pretty big book to help them out, even though I know I could get it cheaper elsewhere.
  11. Great pick up. I saw it posted, thought about it, came back to take it and it was gone. He who hesitates doesn't get the worm. Something like that.
  12. Congratulations on finishing! It must be bitter sweet! I'm going to enjoy reading these posts for the next 49 days
  13. Still a pretty cool part of history. I'll try to figure out how he ties into the story. Thanks again! Kevin
  14. Take! The L Ron Hubbard story is just to interesting to pass up.
  15. Well, I'll throw this out there. Despite the 50% mark up for the exact same comic and the restoration, I'm willing to pay the full original cover price if the seller still has it. Just trying to do my part during these unique economic times.
  16. Action 11 is a really cool book. I've got an incomplete one I'm deciding if i should sell or not. It's the first time superman used X-ray vision and some argue it's the first WWII cover. It came out in April 1939, so technically the war hadn't started yet. But tension were high in Europe and Japan was already engaged in war.
  17. While there is no doubt this is going to spell trouble for the global economy with an awful lot of people not working, it is extraordinary how technology is enabling life to move forward. We are seeing an immediate shift to a population working at home, virtual school for my kids, a change to online classes for college kids, Telahealth and a rise in mail order services. I have worked at home for many years, but today will be the first day I'm working, my wife is virtually teaching, and my 7 year old son is going to school all from the same room..... And we have a 2 year old who will do his best to make sure none of us accomplish anything. From a collecting stand point, it will be interesting to see how technology changes the game. You'll have a lot of shops unable to open and a lot of dealers unable to attend cons. While it's possible many collectors will hoard those big ticket books, I actually think we'll see tremendous buying opportunities from dealers who sell books to survive. The boards and online auctions will have allot of inventory. Then it's a question of if enough collectors have the job security to drive the demand.
  18. Great books again. Congrats to everyone. That Cap 1 is beautiful.
  19. I agree. Happy that your reinvesting in other fun things, but this must have taken so much work. It's such a cool and unique piece of comic book history. Great collection and thank you for making them available here.
