  1. That’s the main reason why I picked it up! Thought that was a great cover.
  2. I’m a take a wild guess that they had huge balls to CPR.
  3. Heritage January 11-14 auction got some huge hitters! ASM 1 9.8 Curator Pedigree. I'm not sure if pedigree grade is counted as universal, but the census shows only 2 in 9.8. Highest grade, this should hit over a mil. Showcase 4 9.6 Highest grade, 1 in 9.6. That should hit a million, I would think. Last sale was $179k in 2009. Superman 1 7.0, 3rd highest grade. That's a $2 million book. All star comics 8 in 9.4. 1 in 9.4, highest grade. Last sale was $1.6 million, last year 2022. Interested to see if this goes down in price.
  4. "I keep a spreadsheet for every charity thread, listing every transaction. I keep it in case there are tax or other questions." Correct me if I am wrong, but gifts to individuals are not tax deductible. Only qualified organizations are eligible to receive tax deductible contributions.
  5. Since I am leaving to visit relatives in Houston for Christmas, I had to open my Secret Santa gift early. My wife asked me "Um why are you taking your pants off?" I replied, "Because I am getting BLOWN away by this gift from SCKAO!!!" After going thru the massive haul, I put my pants back on and had to break open the good stuff, for those bourbon drinkers, y'all know this is only to be drank on special occasions like when SCKAO simply delivers!!
  6. Sell it on these pages. Avengers 3 in 9.4 probably is around a $6k book. If you haven't already scrolled through the selling part of the forums, plenty of people list books as expensive, or more expensive as that.
  7. I bought a 6 figure book like that a few years ago. Purchased a same day plane ticket, seller met me at the airport between the 45 minute layover and I handed him a cashier's check. Put the book in my backpack and hopped back onto the return flight. Easy peasy chicken queasy.
  8. Well that's good and bad news. Good news is you are getting much higher grades than you expected as they base the fee on 4% of Fair Market Value. So your books together are worth $1300 x 25 = whooping $32,500!!! Bad news is you owe them $1300. Depending on how much you put into it, I'd take that all day everyday.
  9. Would it kill them to post a "Update in progress?"
  10. 8 books. The Phantom Lady is a high quality reproduction. The Night Watchman book is signed by one of the authors, sorry I couldn’t stop him in time 😂 US shipping only.
  11. I had actually messaged GoCollect a few days ago as I read pretty much every single one of their comic related articles. Their reply below: Sender Tim Ludwikowski Sent Nov 17, 2023 1:58pm Message Hello and thank you for contacting us about this. The decision was made to pause the release of new blog content as well as blog email notifications while we work on a new integrated blog platform and rethink what we want to provide for readers. We currently don’t have a definitive ETA but we will send out an email once the new blog platform is in place and ready to go, so stay tuned! We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in the meantime but it’s our hope that you’ll see the new version as being worth the wait! Thank you so much for being a fan of our content up to this point and we can’t wait to show you what we have in store for the future!
  12. WoW!!! Purchased a raw book from Cliff and it arrived in a Gemini packed in a 1095 USPS box! Absolutely bomb proof and beautiful book. Buy with confidence!
  13. Can anyone confirm if GoCollect has these two mixed up? I believe, the original has Purple in the X and Banshee while the JC Penny reprint has Orange.
  14. Well you guys might be right after all. Deadlift collectibles is located here in OKC and someone in our local FB group said they visited the place and it was closed for inventory. Sounds like he might be closing up shop or selling to someone else. Mike is also a professor at the University located nearby and a producer of films. From my interactions with Deadlift Mike, I've never had an issues with him and general consensus in OKC is he his honest and legit. But as mentioned above, YMMV. From what I hypothesize, it sounds like comics had to go, as there was too much on his plate. I am not sure what surgery he had or if that had anything to factor into it. I do know that when I had my pennis reduction surgery, the recovery took weeks and was brutal.
  15. Because human nature likes to talk? What's the difference between someone saying, selling for down payment of home vs. for hospital bills? Or selling to fund a purchase of a bigger book. Or selling because they buy and sell comic books for a living. We all have reasons to sell.
  16. I mean he literally said he was having surgery in a few weeks in his first sentence. One would think that he didn't respond because he was having surgery?
