  1. Same here. My box was signed for at CGC at 11 a.m. on 12/9, posted as received 12/11. Those CGC boys must be loving all the overtime this Todd signing has inevitably wrought.
  2. Unless you know something about Todd’s health we don’t, I suspect they’ll be many more chances in the future. And nothing but props to CGC, but not sure what they “cornered.” Many comic stores set up private signings nowadays where you can mail in books to get them signed & sent to CGC for grading. Then there are a people, agents I guess, who offer their services getting your books signed at cons you can’t attend & submitted for CGC. So I wouldn’t feel too bad.
  3. I sure hope they pick up packages on Monday. I sent a box next day mail yesterday and just got a notification from USPS that the package was “undeliverable” and now won’t redeliver until Monday. FML.
  4. I have two Moderns I dropped off with CGC for press at the Tampa Comicon back on August 2nd that haven’t moved, either. What’s funny is I submitted two books at Cincy Expo (no press) on 9/22, they were marked Received on 9/24 and I just got them back on 11/1. I realize pressing takes time and care but crazy that it jumps your time from 6 weeks to 6 months.
  5. Only the first season, tho. And not having Spidey 66 is a huge disappointment
  6. I’m a little confused by the “fill out all 9 pages” thing. The first one is CCS. I am not getting any books pressed so why do they need a form when I’m not using their service? And the last one says “customer copy” - isn’t that the copy I keep for myself? CGC made this form very confusing.
  7. I apologize if this is off topic or wrong forum. I did something stupid. I have a movie poster (STar Trek First Contact) signed by the entire TNG cast. I just finished it at a con last month and didn’t want to travel with it so I mailed it back to myself. I packed it up in proper triangle box and everything but my FedEx guy must’ve been Ace Ventura because when it arrived it looked like someone took a sledgehammer to it. I am sick. The poster is not ripped but there’s giant color breaking dents all over it. I saw CCS does restoration on books that replaces color and dents and I was wondering if they work on posters? If not, does anyone have a recommendation for a place that would work on my poster? Thanks.
  8. Shoot, I've had books busted down to 9.2 or 9.0 for practically imperceptible flaws, never mind blatant ones like that. I don't see how that possibly scored a 9.8 either. Either you got an extremely generous grader or, not to accuse CGC of anything untoward, the corner scuffing happened after it was graded either during encapsulation or shipping. This is the first time I've heard of label swapping. Is that really a thing?
  9. I buy long boxes off FB when I see a local trying to dump them for cheap. I cherry pick the comics I want but usually end up with a ton of doubles that are your typical dollar bin fodder. So every year for the past 5 years, I've stuck a stack outside on Halloween and told kids to take one. It's my way of trying to convert the youth of America to the cult of comicdom. Of course, the stack is usually a ton of Amalgam and 90s Image books so I'm not really sure if I'm recruiting the next generation or driving them further away.
  10. I’m gonna cheat and say 4.5/5. Presents very nicely despite the flaws. Hope you reveal the grade after a half dozen or so posts. I wish we had a “guess the grade” subforum for already graded books because I like playing this game!
  11. Don’t tell him that. He’s convinced he is. If you’re a fan of Stan or his “pinhead brother” Larry Lieber, I wouldn’t advise asking Bob what he thinks of them
  12. I had the same thought soon as I saw it. The labels usually do nothing for me but ASM36 would look great with that label. I don’t have any cons left to go to but I’d be tempted to make the hour or so drive to Sarasota to drop my copy off if I had Collector membership.
  13. Celebrities ruined it. I talked with Bob Layton once about this and he made the good point that if the guy who played the third Wookiee on the left in Phantom Menace can charge $40 for an auto, why can’t the creator of Iron Man ask for $10? Which isn’t to say ebay is blameless. Creators have told me they look at what flippers charge on eBay so many are definitely aware and want “their piece” of the pie as it were. But what most of them don’t comprehend is just because someone lists a $15 modern for $299 after its signed doesn’t mean they actually GET that. Personally, I think the flippers thing is just a convenient crock for creators to justify charging for worthless autographs.
  14. He’s very talented but I can’t get over all his ladies having those dead eyes
  15. Even with that tape/water damage that cover presents pretty nicely. Still, with the chip/tear on the left corner, cover damage, staple rip and major major spine roll I’d go 3.0-3.5. If you can get it pressed flat(ter) - and I don’t know much about the process so I can’t say if it’s doable when a staple looks to be holding on for dear life - I could see a bump to 4.0/4.5.
  16. 8.5 - spine roll, couple spine ticks that break color, both corners have small color breaking blunting
  17. Sale pulled this same BS at Megacon. I love his work and had a bunch of things I wanted signed yet every time I walked by his booth he’s just siting there drawing some commission ignoring the world. The one time I stopped to see to see what he was drawing, he looks up and gives me stink eye. Like, dude, if you just want to sit there and draw then hire a rep, stay home, and do mail commissions. And he pulled the time switcheroo at least once, too. I have a beautiful LH Absolute HC I’d love signed but if I ever see him at a con again, I’m writing him off until someone gets through to him to stop being a tool.
  18. It’s a 4.5/5 now as is. The cleaning might improve the back cover a bit but even if they somehow get that inky looking stain out, the major problem is the gazillion color breaking stress lines and a press ain’t gonna fix those.
  19. I collect football cards as a side hobby. I get them slabbed and sig verified by Beckett, who own CBCS. I assume they use the same methodology being one company - I’ve been to their home office in Dallas and since both are done side by side I assume they follow similar standards. Anyway, I’ve submitted say 5 Ezekiel Elliot’s and gotten back 4 verified and 1 rejected because the auto was too poor, illegible, suspicious in some way, etc. So while I’m not a fan of CBCS for several reasons, I believe they do put effort into verification and don’t just slap “verified” labels on these unwitnessed signatures willy nilly
  20. White means color breaking - my understanding is pressing can’t help that. Your book looks pretty minty but I had a book with a couple little spine ticks that got busted down to 9.4 so I’d guess 9.4-9.6 depending if the grader had a good lunch.
  21. Gonna say 4. With a press, the spine will get fixed but not all the color breaks and dings so I don’t see that improving it more than .5 grade
