Mostly agree. .. Some sentry has been good though.... Osborne using Sentry as a weapon was fun in Dark Avengers..... Jeff Lemire wrote the most recent run if Sentry, everything he is on has strong creative writing.

The only thing I'd like signed by Liefeld are my feet..... A Liefeld signature detracts from my want to buy.

It's a good way to artificially increase the value of the first print.... Making sure it has a low print run thus manufacturing scarcity.

Tough one for me..... But then logic kicks in, I'll take the 6.5 IH 181 and turn it into a blue label 9.8 ASM 300 and multiple other tasty slabs. Always been a huge Venom fan .... I really like Wolverine but not as much as the market does. Venom > Wolverine for me.... Unpopular opinion I'm sure... I tend to have those.

Yes the Thread mutated in the most beautiful way possible. Great story to read and it has been followed by informative commentary. I've been a collector since my early childhood thanks to familial influences. I have a little over 2,000 books, much to my wife's chagrin. I have yet to sell a single book and like it that way. I'm 30, being born in '89 most of what I collected as a child was drek but drek I really enjoyed (Danny Ketch Ghost Rider and SS Vol.3 along with whatever Spiderman I could get my hands on.) My taste evolved with age, now when trying to justify purchases I always play the investment angle although I have no intent of selling. I'm a dragon and comics are my gold. Nothing is as cathartic for me as diving through my boxes. That being said I have never spent more than $620 on a single book (IM55) because as an adult with a child I unfortunately have to have my priorities in order 😂. Lurking on these boards for years has gone a long way to making me a more informed collector. The only way to get the information you are looking for on these boards is through patience along with perusing and parsing through threads. The elders tend to flame anyone asking for all the answers and rightfully so. One of the things I found interesting talking about the market is the success found in investing in personal debt I.E. investing in MasterCard etc. It makes a lot of sense and seems like a good place to throw liquid assets. I currently work in middle management and I never seem to have my personal assets in the right place. 5K sitting in a Midcap Vangaurd fund has done squat for me. Probably would have better picking my own horses in the market. At the same time the little bit of liquid assets I can throw around isn't large enough to lift me out of corporate shilling anytime soon. Long story short enjoyed the thread as a microcosm of how the boards operate and how info can be gleaned. Not all of us millennials are insufficiently_thoughtful_people.

Using the silver age showcase instead of the current size showcase allows me to use a bag and trimmed board supplying a nice snug fit without movement. The biggest pro on these cases is the $10 price point. BCW has quality products in general, imo."

I'm from Syracuse... Currently living in CT . Syracuse is a good city for comics definitely miss that. 10+ shops with a handful that keep you coming back. Gotta Shout out Mike at Collectibles Galore/ King of Comics and Jeff over Cloud City Comics. If you are in town and have time for one shop it's gotta be Collectibles Galore/King of Comics.

$40.... I'd call that a win. Not a hot book but one I personally enjoyed .... Very good Jonathan Hickman story with good artwork and a black cover in 9.8 to boot.

ME TV is pretty awesome... I love seeing old horror movies on Svengoolie .... have not seen it on in a long time though.

I'm 30 and I watch Columbo.... and Bonanza and Gunsmoke and The Rifleman but .... I'm odd..... To say the least. One of my favorite oldies is Kolchak: The Night Stalker with Darren McGavin.

Gotta laugh whan a "why is X Key" so expensive thread starts. But I do enjoy the conversation that ensues. At the end of the day the market dictates. Total preference, among other factors, influence this....not ones individual preference. EC Horror Comics are exhaustingly expensive because they are rare in decent grade, historic, and because some people have good taste. Other books are expensive because some people are lemmings with horrible taste who fall victim to marketing ploys. I personally love Punisher and missed the boat on the book. I'm 30 with a growing family and in no position to buy $2K books. I'm a huge Swamp thing fan and missed the boat on HOS 92 as well, so I will have to find contentment in my SW1. I love Moon Knight and am very glad I scooped up my 32 when I did. Those three of my favorite characters ..... If you don't like something ... Then it's not for you. It wouldn't persist if there was no market. Punisher FA has alot going for it, it is classic ASM, the introductory character appears on the cover, the cover art is exceptional and has become iconic. The character took time to find his popularity but has sustained it since attaining it. You don't **** on the market the market ***** on you.

I can see that being an issue. There are a lot of directions the show can go in. I can't say I have all that much faith in Disney to do this thing properly. I would have preferred Moon Knight remaining in obscurity. The series should be done with a certain level of macabre darkness and grit that I don't see Disney seeing as "commercially viable" especially with Disney+ as the distribution platform. I'm also particularly sour due to the show announcement coming literally a few months before I planned to upgrade my WBN 32 4.0 raw copy to a 7.0 slab which I am now priced out of.

Considering it came out 2-3 years before the said joker movie .... Your perception of the timing is "quite bad" 😉

Basically a repost of what I said in the "Why is WBN 32 so expensive?" Thread .... Many of us contrarian oddballs hold Moonie in High regard.... I'm a Huge Moon Knight fan, and have nearly every Moon Knight book. He seems to have a cult like following of which I am a devoted acolyte. Some of his more recent runs have been wonderfully written such as the Lemire run. I enjoyed the Bemis run as well Too the uninitiated I say sure Moon Knight is like Batman, if Batman had 1/10 the money and was 10 times crazier. Even that is disingenuous. Moon Knight shares almost no character traits with Batman. Batman has issues he needs to work through Moon Knight is insane. Bats to Iron Man is a more realistic comparison but that for another thread. Moonie lacks the moral clarity of Batman and does not suffer from a boy scout complex. There is nothing metaphysical to Batman or his powers, whereas Moon Knight believes himself to be the conduit of an Egyptian God with evidence to back up this claim. Moon Knight made his small fortune by killing people as a mercenary. His struggles with DID/ MPD allow for his character development to go into a plethora of directions including the fact that there are four distinct characters within Moon Knight's being (Marc Spector, Jake Lockley, Steven Grant, and Moon Knight) One of which is a homicidal maniac another a normie financeer. He has no qualms about killing and Jake even enjoys dismembering and keeping limbs of vanquished foes. When fights are going south and Jake takes over things get fun. I'm a Batman fan as well and think he is by far the best of the core DC/ JLA characters. I can see the surface comparison but with any amount of digging one can see these characters are drastically different. A lot of people don't get Moon Knight and that's fine "It's not for you"

If no one has said it yet Snyder's Death of the Family was exceptional. Starts at #13 has some crossovers.

All in all I agree. I've been using DD as a whipping boy to make a point. A lot of people take commercial success for more than it is. Art for arts sake is more genuine and more enjoyable for me personally. "Going platinum has nothing to do with luck, it just means a million people are stupid as f---"

DD is Important to no one but his fans . ... I love how people try to argue the "importance" of the specific characters they like..... DD is not Superman, Batman, Spiderman or the Fantastic Four... Those characters were important to the medium (along with many others). Alan Moore's work in the 80's, that was important to the medium. DD is barely a blip on the radar. Same with Moon Knight he is important to no one but his fans, such as myself. His original run was excellent ran 38 issues, MSMN left me wanting in areas but had its bright spots and ran 60 issues. There were some horrible runs thrown in (Vengeance run comes to mind)The somewhat recent Jeff Lemire run was excellently written, drawn and inked ... But if you never gave the character a chance you wouldn't know.

I don't get the DD love and Moon Knight hate. Personally I would rather get intimate with a cheese grater then watch or read about Matt Murdock doing his best to not trip over S*** in Hell's Kitchen but to each his own.

Kit Harrington would make me barf in my lap. I've heard Keanu Reeves is speculated to have an unconfirmed role for Marvel.... I could live with that. I like Keanu but worry he doesn't have the range to pull this off. Honestly whoever is announced I probably won't like at first.

Good I I don't want the price to go up I still want to upgrade my copy lol. One rational explanation on speculation and high price may be a low print run. It was towards the tail end of WBN. I would love to know what the print number is.
