  1. Why did you think there would be a grade bump on that silver surfer 1 6.0 which you also stated was ugly for the grade?
  2. What are your thoughts on Venom 3 and Knull?
  3. Corner damage like that will get 9+ range. It's a tiny corner bend that doesn't break any colour, and it only looks big because of magnification. If that's the only defect, then 9.2 makes sense. Logically, this didnt happen during encapsulation, but before. As written elsewhere, there is no record for CGC ever admitting to be wrong on a grade, and unless the book currently shifts a lot while shaking the slab around, then it would be more logical to think this happened before. Anyways, we've all seen worse on 9.2s before.
  4. Did the grade remain the same? Edit: I can check and yes it did, congrats
  5. My favourite part is how they conveniently hide the grades of all the slabbed books.
  6. What was the name of the LCS, so we know to avoid the shop.
  7. It's big and bulky to accommodate the larger comic. There is no such thing as fake slabs
  8. You gather the same for The batman who laughs?
  9. I doubt Overstreet will include that. You'll probably have to wait for next year. Reminds me of Havok's first appearance, he has like 3 books associated to that. Anyways CGC has Batman 89 as first appearance of Punchline in Cameo (which is the same as Hulk 180), rendering Hell Arizen 3 kind of redundant. However, Hell Arizen 3 has a smaller print run than Batman 89 so that will probably be the book that's worth more in short term.
  10. I'm not talking about QC issues (like wrong labels) and books that got damaged during the process. I really mean cases where fans send a book they think is a grade, then they get it back and it's much lower than they think it should be and then ask CGC to check again to which CGC goes "you're right, it's not a 7.0, it should be a 9.0 instead". I ask because it seems people think this is a thing that can happen, while I see no reason to think that. We see a bunch of people asking if the slabbed grade is indeed the right grade. Some people even send it back to CGC to check if they made a mistake. And I just want to know, has that ever worked? Has CGC ever said they were mistaken about the grade that they indicated?
  11. Yes this is a great example of a good pressing candidate. Not sure if I would call it a subscription crease though, that usually reffers to mailmen from the 60s folding a book in half so it could fit through the mail slot.
  12. I wonder if Dr Phospherous would have gotten the same attention if he were introduced now rather than in the 80s
  13. Same. I sent them to a third party pressing service first who will then handle the CGC submissions. So I don't think I will those books in a while.
  14. A mylar and full back will preserve it just as much, if not more. The only reason to slab it is if you like seeing your comics in slabs (which may be the case and is as legitimate a reason as any).
  15. What did the snail say when it road on the turtle’s back? “Wheeeeee!”
  16. I don't think it's worth slabbing, it's worth as much slabbed as unslabbed. You can spend your money on other comics instead. And 5.0 sounds ok.
  17. The grader notes don't mention much in these higher grades, so that's expected. I have seen that damage, it's a dent if the corner hits anything. That could have happened if the person from your comic shop dropped the book at anytime, or by accident hit the corner of the book against the box he was shipping it in (along with other submissions). It could have happened during travelling if the book was not secured properly and hit against the side of the box. It could have happened at CGC, though that one I doubt because usually they tell you if something like that happens. Best guess is it happened between you handing it over to the comic shop and them sending it to CGC. Did you opt to have your book pressed by CGC? Because that would eliminate it being the comic shop's fault. If not, then it's probably the handling of the book when preparing for shipping (or during shipping). It didn't happen once enclosed, pretty sure of that. CGC then graded it accordingly, giving it a 9.2 due to that corner dent. And cases are easy to scuff, so that could have happened anytime. If your comic shop recieved lots of submissions back, then cases rubbing against eachother as they were put away and stacked together could have caused that. The good news though is that this can be fixed with pressing the book, so you could still get your higher grade. But you'll have to spend to get it pressed and regraded (which would now be an extra $60)
  18. Here's another super cheap one and I write it here because this was procured out in the open on e-bay where anyone else could have gotten it. Shipping was free and someone was accepting offers on this good looking Master Comics 49, a WWII era book with a Raboy cover. Guide price is slightly over $200 (grading this conservatively) and I got it for just slightly over $100, so basically half off guide. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Master-Comics-Issue-49-April-1944/233138077326?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  19. Got a nice new Raboy cover for my collection that just came in the mail.
