And your suspiscions are correct!

Your comments are always aprpeciated. What you mention is different from what I am asking. What you reffer to could be a mistake, but it could also simply be the interpretation of the grader. After purchasing the slab, you didn't contact CGC to let them know that they made a mistake. Instead, you cracked it and sent it to them as any other submission. What I am asking for here is a scenario where CGC agrees to take a slab back and change the grade, as if it was a mistake on their part. And the reason I ask is because I am pretty sure the answer is no, or extremely rare. Which is a huge contrast to the myriad of posts you and I see every week of people second guessing what they see in the slab and wondering if there must have been an error. In any case, your comment helps me quite a bit because from here on out, if anyone says they doubt the grade they see in the slab, then that will be the advice: if you don't think it's that grade, then send it back to be regraded, at your cost.

Thoughts on a few meh cards
William-James88 replied to jaybuck43's topic in CGC Cards General Discussion
Man, I gave all my pokemon cards away. -
I do Wolverine 2 is actually a key issue since it's the first appearance of Yuriko. If your Wolverine 2 looks as good as those spider-man books, then yes it could be worth sending it in. If there are colourbreaking ticks (so white lines) along the spine or big creases then it's not worth sending in. 3 and 4 could also be worthwhile but they have to look really good, like I said with issue 2. If you see any hint of white lines on the cover because creases, then it would not be worth it. And all the corners have to be straight and square, not curved or bended.

Daredevil #1
William-James88 replied to Adam Moore's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Sadly, it would not be worth it, especially since removing the restoration would mean a lower grade. So. here's the math. Your best case scenario is you'd be spending an additional $100-150 to get a 2.0 Universal label, so you'd be at $1000. And a 2.0 Universal label is worth around $850. You'r better off selling this one and using that money to buy a Universal copy instead. Let someone else think they can improve on this comic. -
CGC adding on shipping charges... from Fall 2019?
William-James88 replied to slowdowntubby's topic in Comics General
It really sucks that it has to come to this, but there seems to be no choice but to contact your credit card company. They are abusing the trust you gave with giving your Credit Card by charging your card amounts that you did not agree to and you don't even have a bill for. Don't know the impact that will have on your relationship with CGC but you might have to go through another dealer to send in your stuff after this. -
CBCS CAME BACK A WHOLE GRADE LOWER
William-James88 replied to J-KComics's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Thanks for your reply. Just one thing I want to clarify, I never meant to call anything a rule. My example was to show that there was no rule and that we shouldn't talk in over generalizations. I remain skeptical in claiming any rule here. -

Not at all, but not just for CGC, for you too and anyone you'd sell it to. -
Comiclink, Comic Connect, Heritage, etcetera... Wins...

This comic (in a decent grade) comes up like once every year or two so this was my shot and I didn't miss. -

Dude, you HAVE to find a way to get Henry Winkler to sign this, it would be such an awesome Sig Series! -
I don't get it. Usually they stick to what guide says, which is also usually the same notes CGC puts on the label. But for Captain Marvel Adventures 27, they have been pushing a (wrong) first appearance for 16 years. I don't see why they would have a special agenda for this particular issue, but for some reason they keep pushing it hard. The deal here is all about Mr Mind, who's "first appearance" has been getting super hot ever since he was revealed in the end credits of the Captain Marvel film. They have been stating for a while that issue 27 is also a first appearance of the character since at least 2004, even though it is not and no such thing is written in overstreet or on CGC labels. 2004 https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/captain-marvel-adventures-27-fawcett-1943-condition-fn-captain-marvel-joins-the-navy-first-appearance-of-mr-mind-o/a/14012-17129.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515 Captain Marvel joins the Navy! First appearance of Mr. Mind. Overstreet 2003 FN 6.0 value = $165. 2013 https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/captain-marvel-adventures-group-fawcett-publications-1942-45-condition-average-fr-total-10-comic-books-/a/121320-12125.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 27 (first full appearance of Mr. Mind) 2020 https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/captain-marvel-adventures-27-fawcett-publications-1943-cgc-vg-40-off-white-pages/a/122036-11153.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 The first full appearance of the Mr. Mind, in panel and speaking. Previous appearances are either a disembodied voice, or one single tiny depiction/cameo in a single panel in what it now called his "first appearance". That 2020 description is rather wordy to make the book more important than it is, and I just don't why they've been doing this weird song and dance about it for all these years. Clearly, judging from the prices obtained, it never resulted in anything. Just something I found odd and wanted to share.

File Copy Designation
William-James88 replied to Bluemedgroup's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
You will need documentation. You usually have to send CGC a copy of that documentation because they won't return it to you. If you have no documentation, then how do you even know that it's a file copy? -
CBCS CAME BACK A WHOLE GRADE LOWER
William-James88 replied to J-KComics's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Green label means the defect is ignored. So you get the grade you'd get if you didn't count that someone wrote across the cover. So your book would get a 9.4 Green or something like that. But as you suggested, it's better placed in a nice mylar. -
CBCS CAME BACK A WHOLE GRADE LOWER
William-James88 replied to J-KComics's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Baloney. Case in point this lovely 9.4 (I hope you dont mind, @Xenosmilus) Also, we don't know how many old slab are still out there and from what I gathered, the allure of purchasing an old slab has nothing to do with looser standards. Intstead, it s entirely based on the assumption that pressing was less popular at the time and thus you could get a grade bump after a press. -

That sounds kind of nuts. Contact them since the way you are going about it right now is needlessly inefficient. -
Is this a 9.8
William-James88 replied to williegglover's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
That's what I thought. It had to happen during encapsulation, after the grade was given. -
Shipping oversea to CGC
William-James88 replied to Scott Dellar's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Yup, regardless of value. And it's in your best interest to report the right value because if you don't and it gets lost, then the royal mail won't give you anything back. By the way, isn't there a london office you can ship to instead?
