  1. I think we've all seen 9.8s with corners like that. If CGC reasons that they are production defects, a 9.8 could be a possibility. Mind you it's not the most probable outcome, hence my range. I would recommend a prescreen.
  2. I had a fiasco of my own with them and a married cover. Their customer service was more kind to me then it was to you. So yeah I guess my mileage has been better in more ways than 1. Sorry to hear though, I too collect rare GA books so it's not fun to lose any option of getting one.
  3. Must be fun for the sellers when they then get all those return requests
  4. Sure. It's still higher than any recorded amount for 6.0 in GPA and this supposedly has a piece missing from the back.
  5. They were way more conservative a 7-10 years ago, similar then to how mycomicshop is now. I think they saw money left on the table for being too conservative and have since gone with predicting to the .5 mark what it would get from CGC. Which of course leads to them not getting it exactly right at times.
  6. At least with comiclink, the majority is graded. Here not only is it raw but the main defect giving it its grade is on the back. Sounds more important than in other cases. This surprises me and I wonder if that's just a blip or a new norm. The prices for 90% of Fawcetts have not gone up in 15 years. I think what happened here is people paid above guide and GPA because they thought it was better than a FN since it does look better if only judging the front cover.
  7. The problem is more with the bottom of the spine. 9.2
  8. Honestly, could land anywhere between 9.4 and 9.8
  9. Yes, because those are 2 different shipments and each shipment is 70$ at starting point.
  10. No, steer clear away. Your book being signed means CGC will see that as a defect and your book could lose whatever value it might have had . It's best you sell that book ungraded to someone who would appreciate it. Also, if you want to sell lower value books, try Mycomicshop.com. They have a lower cut off rate for value than Heritage (the Heritage cut off is 5000).
  11. It's a collector's fail as well, to be fair. I am honestly amazed at how high this item is going when no one has a clear view of what they are actually buying. Hertiage rarely, if ever, puts images of the back cover. That is of course their choice. However, in this case, it sounds insane not to because their description for this raw GA Whiz Comics book states that there is a piece out of back cover. The front cover looks great, better than the FN grade they give it, but a piece missing would easily bring the grade down. But the pic of the back ain't there, so it's impossible to see what they mean. Am I the only one that finds this crazy? And yet, collectors are currently bidding well over guide, which leads me to believe no one is reading the description.
  12. Rarity, that's it. Same reason why 9.9 is an even bigger difference. If 9.0 is good for you, then that's great.
  13. CGC allows most production defects at 9.8 so if all other copies of that comic have a similar defect, then it isn't counted as damage that would lower a book's grade. If you remain unsure, you can send the book to cgc for them to regrade it at your cost.
  14. You are generalizing based on your books. I could do the same with mine which show that canadian variants are worth more. You will have to show us the books you are talking about. And fyi, it's not really the fact that they are canadian that make some books rare and interesting, it's the fact that some of them show a different price, and there is an interest for price variants.
