Here is one, it turns out that's the copy that ended up in my 5 sealed DC bags. Sorry not Golden age, but I thought it fit the theme. And here it is to make it easier to see

Hello all. Let me know what you think of this copy. It feels really solid for such an old book and while it has a bunch of small defects, there is nothing major. So I'm wondering what you'd all think. Is 6.5 too high/low, because that's what I am thinking.

Man, this thread is nuts and the arguments I read sound ridiculous. And there really doesn't need to be any arguing since we now have 2 legitimate grading companies that offer different services, which should please all fans. If you preffer CGC, get your sig witnessed by CGC. If you can't or have a presigned book, then go for the competitor. Easy peasy.

Just to be sure and to help out the seller, I'd post the "I'll take it" along with the price your taking it at. That will help the seller when it comes time to tally up what you owe them.

Hey all. I'm a bit confused here. I've been reading Batman for years and still do and yet this Joker figure from McFarlane that's supposed to be the "rebirth" look doesn't remind me of anything. Joker was around in "Rebirth", which I assume means comics starting with Tom King's Batman run and now but there was nothing different about his look compared to what he looks like traditionally. And he didn't have those red highlihgts around his eyes. So not sure what this toy references and why it's titled "rebirth".

Man, if Hertiage brightens their pics then that off white example must look even darker.

Just to show how eye appeal/oxidation/yellowing/passage of time can be completely unrelated to the technical grade. Here are two FF 67s both in 9.4.

It works both ways too with eye appeal. I have saddened a few people in he "PGM" forum because their beautiful glossy silver age book had a subscription crease, creating a length wide colour break. The book looks great, but it is still technically a 4.0. Deep down, people can argue about how good a book looks all day long but the technical grade remains objective and we can only spend so much time on a book.

I think you are incorrect in your assumptions, especially with the assumption that this book can't be a 9.0 because it doesn't look like what you associate with a 9.0. That's something I hear on these boards all time time and it is flat out wrong. Eye appeal is in no way related to the grade. The grade is based on one thing: the wear and tear of the book. That's it. So tears, creases, damage, that sort of stuff. You remove points for it. But for the normal progression of time? It's not the same as wear and tear and thus wont be graded the same way. There are high grade copies of Fantastic Four 67 which are badly yellowed due to this grading standard. Your book is similar to that. Staple discoloration can happen due to oxidation, same with the foxing. I think the book looked like that when it was slabbed and I don't think that grade is a mistake, nor do I think you did a mistake. If you are wondering why you got it so cheap it's because demand for non keys has dropped heavily. Money is limited to all of us so for all the keys to be obtaining new records, other books had to be sold to finance that and there's less money around to spend on those. And since you bought it on auction, the price you paid is now the latest in the GPA, and that's the price others will expect to pay from here on out. So you didn't really get a deal as so much that you purchased the book for it's now fair market value. Anyways, here is another example. Look how terrible this 8.0 looks. And yet, in terms of wear and tear it is an 8.0. And in a recent case, just to show that CGC will still give a decent grade to a book with such heavy foxing/discolouration.

Seeing all these comics makes me wonder, did Angel ever get his costume right? It almost feels like his Archangel look is his most classic look.

Some DCs are just as bad. I don't ever want to see another Detective 356 or Brave and the Bold 68.

It would affect the book more if it was high grade. But since your book is not high grade, then it being filled out is practically inconsequential. No one will hold that against you on this 5$ book, but I would still point it out for any potential buyer, just so they are not surprised by it

Since you bought them on auction, then it's easy. Their latest fair market value is exactly what you paid for them.
