  1. "It's supposed to be cold." Jokes aside, this sounds like a terrible idea. But hey, if anyone's game, I would gladly pitch in 1000$ with you all for a Detective 27 and keep it in my house. You can come visit anytime to look at it.
  2. Not that I saw, also even if they did does it mean we can sink to their level, is that how it works? He's just an a-hole, not a kitten murdered, why can't we just move on from this
  3. Is this crossing the line a bit? He's been dealt with and sellers have one less headache to worry about, why are we going into stalking territory?
  4. About golden age, here are some affordable keys. And if you don't care about these key issues, then that's the reason they are still affordable Captain Marvel Adventures 79 Captain Marvel Adventures 125 Captain Marvel Adventures 26 (picking up big time lately) For silver age, I find Showcase 37 to be rather affordable Now for modern, well I went on a shopping spree to a local comic book warehouse yesterday to see all the books being discussed above and bought the following for these prices (some are higher than e-bay but I can see them in hand and can buy it all at once without having to have 10 different shipped orders). All of these are at least standard near mint / off the rack grade. Sword of Azrael, complete set for $15 Alpha flight 33 $6 Alpha Flight 51 $7 Batman 436 $3 Detective Comics 586 $3 Daredevil 197 $3 Transformers 53 $3 Uncanny X-Men 221 $11 Uncanny X-Men 244 (newstand) $22 Uncanny X-Men 282 $3 Uncanny X-Men 316 $3 New X-Men 117 $3 New X-Men 118 $3 New X-Men 129 $8 New X-Men 133 $3 New X-Men 134 $3 New X-Men 135 $3 New X-Men 144 $3 New Mutants 16 $8 Mighty Thor 337 $75 Batman LOTDK 120 $8 Batman 655 $15 X-Factor 5 $3 X-Factor 24 $8 Amazing Spider-man Annual 16 (Canadian edition) $15
  5. From what I read on these boards, there are a lot more raw SA keys than there are slabbed SA keys. Take Amazing spider-man 13 for instance. Last year was the biggest year ever for that book, so the prices slabbed comics sold for on e-bay got others wanting to get theirs slabbed. So now the market got more slabbed Amazing Spider-man 13s than it ever did. I think that's what was meant by supply outgrowing demand. And the book I picked is just an example, don't know if the prices for slabbed copies of that book actually went down. 6. that is exactly what I mean. Was looking for a similar discussion but couldn't find one. thanks man!
  7. As the title says. I can see how batman 655 can be worth slabbing if yours is high grade. What other examples do you have and which non variant moderns are you sending in to get slabbed?
  8. They aren't super common, but some books have remained fresh. I have some silver age books with really nice white pages and I even have some golden age books with white pages. It's really stunning to look inside, the colours look so bright.
  9. The bigger issue here is that I fear the book might no longer get the universal blue label. So the grade might not change much but the book's value can be cut in half or more. Also, CGC will be able to tell what's been done and they are more likely to make the mistake of saying an untouched book has been touched then missing it.
  10. Same. For some reason, I feel so much more distant to those books than the others I have even though they are equally as nice (if not nicer) and as crucial to my collection. I can attest. One of my worst transactions was on e-bay, years ago, where a seller had a decent looking Batman #20 and he stated that he only sold raw because he did not trust slabs, so the point that he would crack all the slabbed books he bought. Well turns out that book had a sealed tear. Undisclosed of course. I was able to return it, but the seller never admitted to their mistake. I wonder how many people he scammed with this notion.
  11. Yes, unless the person who posted is the original owner of the comic, I would think that the eraser marks are an outcome of some cleaning. Also, to the original poster, those will not come out with a press, so you will probably end up with the exact same grade.
  12. Honestly, I dont think any of those are worth getting graded. Also a simple mylar and board can give as much preservation as a cgc slab.
  13. What is super cool about Daredevil 1, and why I can definitely see the potential, is that in 1 comic you have a popular character's first appearance, him on the cover and the first issue of his own series. For other characters, that can be 2-3 different keys (wolverine, for instance). I think all he needs is to be part of the cinematic MCU and on the big screen in a good movie for the comic's value to achieve new heights.
  14. That is not the same at all. And I was explicit in saying this was a personal opinion. You wanted to know why it was cheap and I helped. Now you just want to argue about it and I won't be playing. So please, back off.
  15. I was always curious about this. Do retcons also work with keys? Because Kang's first appearance is Avengers 8. Later they wrote that he used to be Rama Tut. But Rama Tut wasn't Kang originally, it's nowhere in the story, he's just another random villain. CGC themselves, do not mention Kang on their slab notes either.
  16. Where would you see Transformers fitting in all this? Their comic appeared before anything else related to the franchise.
  17. Not to me, both those characters have their own key comic, this is just another comic featuring them.
  18. Because he's not as popular. Even Marvel knew that, hence why he was relegated to the small screen.
  19. Northerngiant on ebay has some very decently priced golden age comics.
  20. For keys, yeah, but there are people out there like Harley Yee at conventions and northerngiant on ebay that I can count on for decently priced books. They have kept me collecting. Plus, if you go through auctions then technically you are buying at market value.
  21. Thanks for responding and yeah, I can absolutely understand how that happened. It's really dumb on their behalf to have sold it that way, not only did they shoot themselves in the foot but they also destroyed what could have been a very fruitful partnership with you. You could always file a complaint here as others with similar stories have: https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/dallas/profile/auctioneer/heritage-auctions-0875-23003944/complaints Congrats on your spider-man collection by the way, cool stuff!
