  1. Plus you can have someone else press/clean the book before sending it to cgc. The only reason to send a book in a slab is to get the discount cgc gives you when they slab a book already slabbed by a competitor.
  2. I can understand. As a kid, I didn't consider the possible later value of my pokemon cards. And that goes for almost every other kid in the late 90s, or else we wouldn't be seeing the prices they are getting for high grade ones right now.
  3. The answer is whatever you'll get in an auction. Could be 20$, could be 50$, could be 100$, who knows? The main issue with Stan Lee sigs is that since he was a comic guy and died only recently, the money is all on signed comics that are witnessed by CGC. You don't get that premium with your autograph.
  4. If you are referring only to colouring in the letters, then no.
  5. It happened to me too with Teen Titans 12. I am obsessed with Batman stuff and that book (along with Hell Arisen 3) completely flew under me.
  6. Not referring to that. Only referring to you saying that you'd always go first print over a later print. I wonder if you'd say the same about Venom 3. Or while we are at it, Man of Steel 18.
  7. You dont think the abundance of second prints will affect the price eventually?
  8. I bid on it too, but once it went over 1000 I had to let it go.
  9. yup, and as soon as that happens, all the copies will come out of the woodwork, lowering the price and eventually having the price fall again years later when interest wears off. Reminds me of 52 #11
  10. I think it's fine. By selecting all value, you ensure that they are part of the same shipment. Modern books are allowed in other tiers and sometimes even HAVE to be in another tier. And I wouldn't change it since then you'll be stuck paying that extra 100$ shipping. What you did was the smartest move and I think what you should do is make sure all your books ship out at the same time to avoid that high feel Call CGC to make sure
  11. Every scenario would still get you a green label at best. Since the book has been messed with since getting it (by marrying the wrap), I would leave it this way and send it complete. because if you remove it, there is a chance that the book is found to be incomplete and you get a 0.5 blue label. No way to prove that missing wrap is a manufacturing defect rather than it simply having been lost over time.
  12. Doesn't sound that cool a key to get over others. By the way another really awesome key that I realize is picking up some ridiculous gains is Detective Comics 73. Within that price range you describe you can still get a decent one, but not for long. And it's rarer than most other books being mentionned here. Of course, I am a big fan of following one's heart so i'd only get this one if you're a big batman fan. But yeah, if I had 5K simply to go towards books, i'd get either a Turtles 1 or this Detective Book. It's rather special to me and can easily reach the realms of unobtainability for many of us due to its scarcity.
  13. It depends who will press it. Since I get my books pressed by more reputable people than CGC, I crack the slab myself and send it to them who then send it to CGC. If you get it pressed by CCS then you can send the slab or crack it. I think sending it in a slab makes you incur an extra fee for them to crack it. If you do send it already cracked, include the original label when you send it so that they can remove it from the census data. And to answer your other question, yes it's totally worth it. going from a 7.0 to an 8.0 or 9.0 could mean a big difference.
  14. because for some people playing the loterry is more fun than investing. Anyways, Final Crisis 7 is the first appearance, CGC just doesn't have it right. But the market determines prices, not what CGC writes on a slab.
  15. I pick whichever is cheapest once insurance/tracking costs are included.
  16. Them being a file copy does not give them a premium, no. However, because a file copy was not read by a kid back in the 40s, they are usually in better shape than other copies, that's what makes them interesting to collectors. It's all about the condition.
  17. It's a choice. You can either have 0.5 blue label (the accurate grade) OR a green label with a higher grade where the comic is judged ignoring this fatal flaw.
  18. You're missing all the love interests and most of the villains, including a ton of symbiotes along with Spider-man Noire 1, Marvel Tails Starring Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham and more.
