But if they are not a professional grader, how about selling me that Hulk 181 for a $1? Because you're also not a professional pricer either!

2000ad Prog 2
southern cross replied to World Cup Willie's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Is the sticker page loose in the prog? And was it loose to begin with? I know any loose items in the book won't be graded with said loose items in a slab by CGC because it may damage the book moving loosely inside the slab if graded.- 3 replies

2000ad - To Slab or not to Slab
southern cross replied to World Cup Willie's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I'd get the second prog graded. First appearance of Judge Dredd and they've made a movie in the past. Even in vg $56? That was floated price on eBay sounds like a bargain to me. Think it maybe worth more then that?- 7 replies

PGM Adventure Comics #368
southern cross replied to chadsdsmith's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I'm at a 9.2, I can't see this lower then a 9.0 unless there's something going on with the top staple. -
PGM Sub-Mariner #46
southern cross replied to SellinMyCollection's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
I'm at a 5.0, popped staple would probably mean it could never grade higher then a 8.0. With the multiple spine creases that break color and the rusted bottom staple that's starting on the inside page leads me to a 5.0. Was there a price sticker on the top right edge of the front cover? Even if there was this damage I believe won't lower the grade even if it graded 6.0. -
Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit???
southern cross replied to InfantTerrible's topic in Comics General
I've just got a raw copy of the Archie. Once I pick up a copy I'm happy and never look to upgrade Golden age books in general. -
So the dealer has a copy of Sinister House of Secret love in 9.6 he is keeping. I picked up 3 raw copies recently but unfortunately I think I'd only get 9.2s and maybe a single 9.4.

That's like over 1k per point. I got lucky buying a 1.0 14 for $500 at my lcs in 2022. -

Do you collect comic covers of a certain theme?
southern cross replied to Djedi's topic in Comics General
Covers with a kangaroo on it. I don't specifically hunt them down but have a tendency to buy them when I randomly see them at shows. -
This Week in your Collection - Moderns ONLY
southern cross replied to showcase4's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
I don't own these, I just borrowed them to read. I love this cover, the variant covers are ok. There's a Frank Miller variant cover for this book. There's a foil that looks really nice but I prefer this standard cover. I didn't realize Mat is a priest and catching up with that fact I enjoyed the story. The interior artwork I kind of liked. The the Hulk book that I've not been reading but was drawn by the Man thing. I enjoyed this story, it appears to be part one with the story continuing in the next issue. I also enjoyed the interior artwork. -
I remember one shop a short ferry ride away prior to 2020 where there was a couple of bronze age books inside the glass counter case. I asked to look at them as I was currently hunting those issues. I asked if I can see them out of their mylars and the shop clerk,:not the comic shop owner said that they couldn't as there was a sticker on the back holding the flap securely. The sticker said ' please don't remove, the owner has thoroughly checked the condition of the book'. I replied I suppose I could keep the receipt and if I found like missing coupons or pages, loose center folds or bleed through color touch to the cover I could always return it. I was told no because how would they know if I replaced their book for one I already own. I promptly left and found those two bronze minor keys at the next convention and I've never returned to that store again.
