  1. I'd have no difficulty with coming to an agreement if a book I sold turned out to be restored. I probably wouldn't have a personal time limit on it. If I sold someone something that wasn't what it was supposed to be -- I'll fix it. However I wouldn't be too comfortable with a Board return policy predicated upon the possibility that the buyer plans to submit a book to the CGC. If plans to submit are important to a purchase, and there needs to be an extended period wherein the sale is not truly finalized, this should be a matter of pre-purchase negotiations.
  2. Do you realise how difficult it is to get Chapel of Love out of your head?
  3. I would hope a sense of honour would lead a seller to reverse or provide consideration for a dated sale gone badly wrong. But I don't believe that our rules need to provide for a drawn out chain of events.
  4. As a collector first, if I sold it, I'd take it back. It wasn't the book that I claimed that I was selling. A year is awhile but it's not a lifetime. I'd rather my reputation lasted a lifetime -- and not a deal gone sour through no one's fault.
  5. This is the type of copy that makes me suspect this ...
  6. A great cover --- the young woman, in particular, appears photo-referenced. Colletta was a noted photographer of models.
  7. Another fine cover from this series -- trademark Vinnie Colletta eyebrows.
  8. Outstanding cover design. Note how the perspective of the building leads the eye through the cover -- and then when you reach the right edge and the red handbag, the rail and heart shape blurb bring you right back into the cover. Also an outstanding copy of this book.
  9. It seems to me if you for books that haven't arrived at the seller's, you wait until you are informed the seller has the books before you send the money.
  10. It's also missed in the body of text description ... "This copy boasts absolutely crackerjack restoration and beautifully presents as a high-grade book. The colors pop right off the page and you can almost sense the excitement readers of the era experienced upon seeing the foreboding visage of the newly-minted Batman on newsstands. The bright yellows and reds read well against the dark, gloomy brown and gray imagery. Looming above the gothic scenery is an exceptionally long-eared rendering of a troubled hero that would soon take the pop-culture world by storm. All early Detective Comics are highly sought-after, valuable, and important pieces of comic-book lore."
  11. There's a piece out back cover. Hence grade How much for the piece?
  12. The buyer and seller set a price on the book but the deal faltered on a shipping cost. Set all the terms before declaring it a deal. This would mean a set price on the shipping. Though there is hyperbole in the following analogy, one wouldn't declare a done deal on the book costing "between $100 and $120 and I'll get back to you on a final price." You'd want a set price.
  13. Interesting question. Out of curiosity I found this on the web dated 1948. Tin Tin Le Lotus bleu. Given the time period, you might find a quicker response in the Gold Comics thread.
  14. And the book is put back up for sale in the thread if was used. Not too difficult.
  15. I do love arguments backed with illustrations.
  16. Why is it the responsibility of the offended part to figure out a way for the offender to get of the list when nominating them? The rules are clearly spelled out. If the offender didn't want to be on the Probation List they should have followed the rules. If the offender wants to get off the list, it should be his responsibility to figure out a way to make things right with the offended party. Not sure why I am on the other end of this. Personally this could have been resolved way before a post was even made here. We are all adults not sure why we can't work it out amongst each other without having to come here ... because the OP said in his first post that he was put on ignore.
  17. If a seller can't assign a grade when the book is right in front of them -- how should I from a thousand miles away? And if they can't assign a grade, am I to be confident in their ability to recognize defects? And if they can't assign a grade, am I to assume that they pulled the asking price out of the air?
  18. Good post. Nit pick --- I am thinking that 1964 Marvels are still pre-large scale collecting days and 1965 might be a better beginning date for the availability of higher grade books.
  19. For me, these, along with Two Gun 58, are must have books. Not common to see these in such good condition. Two well chosen books to add to the collection*. *In both senses of the word, "add". Two more books in the collection numerically but also in adding to the concept behind any particular collection: the bringing together in one place items that would have less significance or meaning on their own.
