  1. I need to watch that. I don't think I've ever seen it. The poster is the best thing about it. I remember the ads in the paper but didn't see it until several years after its release. I didn't care for it. I looked forward to seeing it again in recent years, expecting to enjoy it a lot more as a more well-rounded adult but didn't. Saul Bass was an amazing designer; a sci-fi director not so much.
  2. I broke out ASM #34 for my pre-dawn reading today. Compared to the interior art where Ditko put a lot of time and detail in, the cover looks a bit rushed. It's based on one of the story panels. The other thing I noticed is that this story must have been the basis for the Aurora model kit. There's a panel with Spidey creeping down the steps of a condemned building (sans Kraven) that's a ringer for the model.
  3. #60 might be my favorite, but I don't have a scan so this is a close second or tie:
  4. When Projects Unlimited dissolved, (the company that made the Outer Limits SFX and stuff), props and costumes were auctioned off. Some stuff wound up in the Paramount closet, some stuff wound up with collectors. One of the aliens from Fun and Games also turned up to harass Capt. Pike in Star Trek:
  5. What are you doing here gawking? Get over to Mixed and start posting.
  6. Kewl! PQ looks really nice, which is I wondered.
  7. Is that a coverless JIM #83 or section from Origins of Marvel Comics?
  8. The 4 issue arc that began here was a favorite as a youngun. Looking forward to reading it again even if it doesn't stand up.
  9. Still only 25¢! For a few months at least. Fantastic Four #170:
  10. Is an ad for Hulk #181 cool? Yes! Does an ad count as a character's first appearance? Only if you live in Bizarro World.
  11. Whoa! I better post another book. Kid Colt Outlaw #57. Chock full of Jack Keller stories (one of the few artists I just don't care for) but it does have an awesome one by Al Williamson. And a mighty Heath cover.
  12. Written by our own mike h, as well as other fine books about Eerie Pubs.
  13. Ordinarily, I would think you meant you pored over the Gerber volumes but having known you for a while I have little doubt that pouring was involved, too.
  14. Does he wear a purple suit to cons and refer to himself in the third person?
  15. First two are good, but not the best. Episodes 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 are Grade-A with many more after those. But I'd recommend watching them in order, even though its an anthology.
  16. This is fantastic! Just saw it now.
  17. Listen to Jeffro. On the dustjacket of The Outer Limits Companion, Stephen King is quoted as saying "the best program of its type ever to run on network TV.” I’d also recommend this blog/website by Mark Holcomb (and his brother?). Holcomb Outer Limits blog/website It contains a fantastic analysis of the show and select episodes. I do wish they’d release it on Blu-ray. The show was re-booted in ’95 and ran for many years. I’ve seen some good episodes from that one, but the original series is the one to seek out.
  18. grinder67 is his name I got the book damaged I requested a refund + return shipping through PayPal He said to ship the book back I asked if he was going to refund return shipping He did not respond I gave him the option to partial refund $12 (reholder) + $5 shipping to CGC for the reholder He refused and refuses to pay return shipping He shipped it in a bubble mailer with no additional protection I think you mean grider67. Is this the book?
  19. What Outer Limits episode is that? Superman Vs the Zanti Misfits. That ep. has creeped me out since I was a little kid. The Megasoid in the "The Duplicate Man" scared the holy out of me when I was a little kid. One of my favorites and one the best episodes from the second season, a great combination of sci-fi and straight drama. That shot looks like he’s in the museum right before he opens his eyes. They were under big budget restrictions at that point; the costume is re-purposed from several sources – the main face is the Simon Oakland mask from Second Chance with a beak glued on. The one that scared me as a kid was The Guests.
  20. And another western. It's a bit of a beater but it's 1956. I don't think the cover is one of Severin's stronger efforts.
  21. One of the good things about pulling books for this thread is that I noticed I need to keep better track of which spinner rack purchases I need to upgrade; this is my second copy of FF #171.
  22. This one may not be much to look at, but it holds a special place in my collection since it's the first FF I bought off the racks.
