    That looks very suspect to me. I am not at a good enough monitor to see any great detail, but if that is a printing defect, it is the oddest shaped defect I ever saw. Has all the telltale markings of a tape pull.

    Read through the whole thread. Book does have potential. Some of what I read does worry me in that it has shades of Jason Ewert in trying to slide one pass the goalie. Jason was able to do this for awhile, and now he is not allowed in the arena, let alone on the ice.

    Even if the writing were pencil, it is over an area that has colored inks. Any attempt to remove it via dry cleaning would rub off some of the ink, resulting in a much lower grade compared to leaving it as is. Solvent cleaning, if detected, would result in a conserved or restored grade. A pressing may freshen it up, but leave the writing alone.

    With the stain (looks like top an bottom of the book) and the crease, even after a press I would say you are in the 6ish range. I would not press this book.

    I use a paper cutter. Cracked out thousands of slabs that way and never had an issue.
