  1. It also depends when books were graded. A 9.4 in a loose grading period will ikely be a 9.0/9.2 in a tighter cycle, which they are in now.
  2. Could be foxing, and if so, it is there to stay. Even if it were a stain, it would be difficult to remove it completely.
  3. While we are all assuming it is a golden age book...is it?
  4. Just got the grades. 5. I'm in the same boat. Post press ( a proper pressing) this would be at least 8.5.
  6. He also stated he did not send books in to CGC. Yet, many of his listing were in sleeves that had the CGC reject stickers on them (and they matched the book).
  7. Yes, but it depends how bad they are. Working off the example you show, I would expect a grade hit due to the waves.
  8. Very common in newer books. Even some older ones like Silver Surfers in the issue 40-50 range, and later Transformer comics.
  9. Since you are already sending it over to CGC why the need for a presser in the UK? Many of the professional pressers bring your books over to CGC when done working on them. I would rather go that route than have a book pressed and then travel across the Atlantic to be graded. A lot can happen in-between due to mishandling. I have shipped many books over to the UK and don't really have any recollection of issues with duties, etc.
  10. I doubt this would get he bump based on existing color breaking defects. Add in that CGC has taken a tougher stance on tanning, and the book may stay the same or even go down with a press. I see a degree of tanning on this book that would get hammered if sent in again.
  11. He could get the book pressed and submitted for around $65.00 sending it in Economy. If he is in a rush add $8. If you have little to no experience cleaning books send it in to a professional. It would be easy to make a $200 mistake on a book like this.
  12. The book has a back to front mis-cut, and what you see on the back cover is artwork from another books front cover. The book would benefit from a press and clean. I would recommend someone, but it would be self serving.
  13. Pressing will not correct the mis-wrap, but it will help with the crunch to the top corner.
  14. Have these at CGC now. Will post grades and pictures when they arrive. Super stoked as many are keepers. 001 Marvel Graphic Novel 24 1986 Marvel Comics Modern n/a n/a n/a 002 Marvel Graphic Novel 18 1985 Marvel Comics Modern n/a n/a n/a 003 Love and Rockets 1 1981 A Hernandez Production Modern n/a n/a n/a 004 Love and Rockets 3 Fall 1983 Fantagraphics Books Modern n/a n/a n/a 005 Epic Illustrated 1 Spring 1980 Marvel Comics Modern n/a n/a n/a 006 Epic Illustrated 34 2/86 Marvel Comics Modern n/a n/a n/a 007 Marvel Graphic Novel 4 1982 Marvel Comics Fourth Printing Modern n/a n/a n/a 008 Marvel Graphic Novel 22 1986 Marvel Comics Modern n/a n/a n/a 009 Hulk 15 6/79 Marvel Comics Universal n/a n/a n/a
  15. Can't speak for CCS, but I won't even attempt to work on a book with brittle anything.
  16. You would be opening yourself up to a world of hurt. Brittle pages would most likely crack and flake just thumbing through the pages. Imagine what would happen if you tried erasing something off those same pages. When I get books with brittle pages in I tell every customer know the same thing. "Not worth the risk."
  17. Just messing with you. I will be there and maybe put on a demonstration how to crack out CBCS and CGC slabs without drawing blood.
