  1. Underbidder. No one gets them cheap. I bowed out very early. The memory of paying a big number for their VF/NM Our Love Story lot back in February made me very gun shy. Out of that entire lot, I ended up with one keeper. Although if Heritage would provide more scans for these lots, I'd be more willing to roll the dice and cross my fingers. Mention it to Steve. You have nothing to lose.
  2. Mayerik is very underrated in my opinion. He did great work on those mags and many of marvels horror titles in the 70's.
  3. The sides of the outer case are not sealed, only the 4 corners. What you are seeing is expected.
  4. I have VT books from 6/28 still sitting at graded after being scheduled for grading for 2 months.
  5. Yep, it was mine. It was removed because it was the truth. Name me one other business that can still charge full price for a defective product. Microsoft? That would be most software companies.
  6. The ripples face both inward and outward. Think of throwing a pebble in water and freezing the associated ripple in time. I passed around an example in Chicago and the reaction from everyone was the same. They were not happy.
  7. Did anyone submit books (value or economy) on or around 6/28/2013? I think I may be setting a new record for books scheduled to be graded. Just wondering where everyone else's books are sitting from that time frame. I believe I just finished week 7 in the SFG hell.
  8. Yeah. PM joeypost about this. They can be pressed out.
  9. Funny, Greggy gets 2 9.9's in his submission but all eyes focus on this turd
  10. My express books just went from graded to QC. Submitted on the same day.
  11. Value books submitted 6/28 Scheduled for grading (but have been sitting there for 3 full weeks).
  12. I'm curious to know whether the well itself has this problem, just straight out of the box before it's even used to encapsulate a comic or is this defect introduced during the process (possibly be slight hand pressure at in the middle, back of the well holding the well during the sealing process)? Has anyone addressed this at all in the discussion? No idea whether this is right or not, but it would explain why the defect is quite prominent on many books graded recently. If someone new is doing the sealing, perhaps this person is inadvertently causing the problem in this way. Sheer speculation, of course. When I asked, I was told it came in that way. So it is from the manufacturer.
  13. It's a manufacturing defect from the supplier. Plus, I am guessing that the CGC has chosen to put the defect on the back of the inner well as opposed to the front. I don't believe unused inner wells have a specified front or back. That would be like specifying right and left socks. It is my understanding from reading various posts on the boards that the CGC received a bad batch of inner wells from their supplier. Instead of waiting for new inner wells from their suppliers, the CGC chose to continue under a "business as usual" mantra until the supplier of the inner wells rectified the problem. This left the CGC with an unspecified amount of defective (my word, not theirs) product to work their way through. There actually IS a front and back tray member to the inner well. I don't think CGC is choosing to put the defect on the back. There are manufacturing reasons why this occurs. Please see my link. LINK It depends on which inner well is used. The modern inner well is pretty much a sleeve with both the front and the back being the same: It doesn't not have the defect. The inner well for this Bronze Age book is as you described; a tray with the book dropped into it and then the top sheet placed over it: It does have the defect. So, the next question would be is the defect only limited to the tray style inner wells or did I just get lucky on one and not the other. I looked over a few different inner well styles over the past few days. There are a few styles CGC uses, not all of them have a tray for the book to fit into. What I have seen (keep in mind it is a very small sampling of less than a dozen cases) is the defect is present in both types of inner well.
  14. I'll verify this later. I have a few cracked out inner wells in the garbage. I'll take pictures tonight.
  15. I used it to mix my soy sauce and wasabi. did you press the sushi beforehand? hope it got a better grade The Sushi was a 10.0 for sure. Company was even better.
  16. Is that good? Not as good as 3 in 9.9 but I'm cause they're not mine. They could be. I'm only going to keep one.
  17. Is that good? Not as good as 3 in 9.9 but
