  1. Could he drink through his helmet? That's the part that makes no sense. Want to display your power, have everyone float around smashing into each other. Levitate the table. Picking up a cup of hot liquid you can't drink doesn't do it for me. Of course he can drink though his helmet. When in need of something stronger than coffee. And for those less formal moments. reminded me of the Robot Chicken skit where Palpatine was trying to order lunch.

  3. This question has haunted me since the actual book came out. Why is Darth Vader holding a cup of hot coffee?
  4. Agreed. But if he doesn't - Probation List? Why not? If people are placed on the list for not completing a transaction, when there is no real loss, then why would someone who overcharges and actually causes a real loss not be a candidate? Because the list has become such a joke nobody knows when to laugh. Would a simple selling template help alleviate a lot of the confusion with terms and shipping costs? If a template were stickier somewhere and each seller could simply fill in thee values and titles for books along with exact shipping fees. It would keep misunderstandings to a minimum.
  5. Looking to finish my Supernatural Thrillers run in 9.8. I need issues 4 and 10. If anyone has a copy they would be willing to sell or trade for ther books please let me know. I have both books in 9.6 and would use them as part of a trade package.
  6. Paid quick and even thanked me when the book arrived.
  7. With no 9.8's and only 6 9.6 copies in the census I don't see them coming up for sale all that often.
  8. Some sick looking books here. No Hulk 158? That is the hardest of the picture frames to find in high grade..
  9. I remember when these were distributed to the dealers and I commented on how cracked up the spines were. I even remember paying $500 for a raw copy way back in the day. I can only assume if the book is stored flat with any weight on it the cracking would get worse over time. Even reading it a few times would create more creasing and cracking.
  10. The Platinum Spiderman #1 was very prone to this due to the thick cover stock. Many copies have achieved 9.8 with this production flaw.
  11. Great idea My LCS and John Verzyl have been doing this for years. Keeps wear and tear down on big ticket slabs at shows and minimizes exposure to damaging light.
  12. Unfortunately, that 1% seems to keep growing. Like late last year when that scammer showed up that went back through our sales history, copied old book links, and then pretended those books were his. Because they were underpriced, folks were jumping within minutes to post the TAKE IT before even checking why all the photos were taken on different backgrounds and lighting. slickrickcomics - not that the name was a warning Uhmmmm - anyone notice that book is owned by a board member? I disagree...we have 80 zillion threads about bad eBay experiences and bad board experiences...why? Because when people get upset they complain. When people are happy, they smile, and they go on their merry way because they expected to be happy. Check the Kudos thread, there are lots of nice things there. I have said this again and again...you have to be prudent when you buy something. Do your homework, don't just grab a bargain. Yes, there are bad actors, but a lot of the kvetching on these boards are repeats. The same issue being dragged up over and over again by the same people. We need a little more cup half full thinking, rather than it's not only HALF empty, it tipped over last week and woe is me. kvetch (kvĕch) Slang intr.v. kvetched, kvetch·ing, kvetch·es To complain persistently and whiningly. n. 1. A chronic, whining complainer. 2. A nagging complaint: "a rambling kvetch against the system" (Leonard Ross).
  13. It's a bit like that isn't it? Whenever I see a Wolverine #35 out in the wild I feel compelled to buy it just because of this thread. But...you know...I'd rather keep that dollar. I thought that way as well. But the first one to market turned a $1.00 investment into $800.00
  14. I must have just got lucky then, as I have HG multiples of all the MOTP (and at least singles of all the COTL books), including 17, but those black cover Marvel Tales are tough for some reason. You are very fortunate. I have owned 5 copies of this with the highest grade coming back a 9.4.
  15. The MOTP 17 and the COTL 15 are very hard books to find in uber high grade. Wonderful collection you have there.
  16. If any interest is shown I have a few books that I would scan and put up for sale. Avengers 57 in 8.0 Black Panther #1 in 9.8 (double cover). Sweet book. Avengers #2 in 7.5 Plus a few more semi-keys.
  17. CGC used to offer the notes for free. The same discussions were being held back then as they are today.
  18. No, they don't. I have re-bagged a few books that I bought at cons that had stickers on the bags and sometimes the stickers do leave marks on the books inside. You might only be able to see the mark if you hold the book at a certain angle or in a certain light. It also probably depends on the thickness of the bag and how tightly the books were packed in a box, and for how long, etc, etc, but it can happen. Yes, it can. I've seen it countless times. That's why I never use stickers for anything and immediately rebag anything with one. Sometimes the dent is extremely deep. Without a doubt stickers will leave impressions over time depending on the way the book is stored. Even the flap of a bag could leave an impression if stored too tightly together.
  19. You really think so? Dan's original pic has a rug that it mottled - even in the small area under the slab you can see specks of brown. On the second pic I don't see any mottled, brown spots. There are some 'shadows' but I don't think they are actually brown spots. Could Dan have more than one room in his house?
  20. It'd be hard to tell as many books that get a blue label, stay in that holder for the foreseeable future and therefore any missed resto probably stays undetected. Considering how many books you must sub and resub on behalf of people, I'd hazard a guess that you'd have as much insight into CGC's accuracy as anyone who isn't employed by them? I can honestly say that in almost 8 years of submitting cracked out slabs to CGC I have only had this happen to me twice. One was a very early old label book that was designated restored (tear seal) and the other was a blue label book that came back trimmed. I would be interested to hear from others who submit a large number of CR or CPR books to see what their numbers are.
  21. Would you say that CGC is 99.99% accurate? Do they miss 1 restored book out of every 1,000? I am not talking about the grade but the color of the label.
