  1. It would be nice if someone offered this as part of a greater service
  2. I remember buying these books as temporary place holders until I could get the original to put in my run. In some cases the art is better, they are harder to find and are more valuable.
  3. I agree. Does this pattern of behavior go back more than 30 days? The fact that it is Darrell, Mike and Barton is the most damning evidence. All three super solid marketplace denizens. What a sad deal this is. This is so sad on so many levels. I guess the only good thing is 3 board members knows this guys address.
  4. The book has no stress and sharp corners. There is a small almost unnoticeable crack to the ink on the tip of one corner. From the front cover it's visually a solid 9.4/9.6. The back cover has a little creamyness at the corners and possibly even a little foxing. They hammered the grade because of it. The book was slabbed before I got it signed and it got the same grade from the CGC both times. Heartbreaking, but far and away the nicest 7.0 that will ever be on the census. I'll never sell it anyway, so the grade really doesn't matter much to me. Yeppers. Foxing and heavy tanning like that will get hammered everytime.
  5. That is one sharp looking 9.0 (thumbs u
  6. That is an option. It would not be my first choice. And no, I would not use glue. Joe, If you could ellaborate please. I don't want you to give out any trade secrets, but how do you attache the piece without tape or glue and still get a Blue label?? If I elaborated I would give out the secret.
  7. That is an option. It would not be my first choice. And no, I would not use glue.
  8. If it helps I would be happy to work on the book to remove what damage I can and attach the missing piece back on the rest of the cover. In case you are wondering I can do this and still retain a blue label on the book.
  9. And that is the attitude I've seen since I told him about the damage. His packing is beyond reproach since the books were double boxed, never mind that double boxing is worthless when the books are free to bounce around inside the box because they aren't taped to the cardboard press in the middle and the press isn't taped together with more than one piece of cellophane tape. Instead to him it's more likely that, after my 5 years on the board and buying thousands and thousands of dollars worth of books here, I decided to pull a book out of a bag by the corner of the front cover and then, to cover the damage, crushed the corner of the book and the 1/2 back to fool and rip him off. And I decided to do that over a f'n $175 book; it's a ludicrous as it is maddening. Right now he is just another sell who "didn't have a problem refunding his money" until it actually came time to do it. Hate to tell you, but you wouldn't be the first one to try to pull that scam and I have always refunded anyone's money but this doesnt even closely look right. Corner bang yes, could happen; ripped corner INSIDE the dang bag, no way. That's where my problem lies. And no need to start cursing and ranting, that's why we're taking it here I'm "ranting" because I bought a book, it arrived damaged and I've been called a liar for asking for some sort of refund. And I hate to tell you this, but books get damaged in shipping no matter how bullet-proof you think your packing is. Was the book insured? I don't think so. I didn't see anything about insurance on the label, I think it just had delivery confirmation. As a seller I take all responsibilty for any books en route. If I want to take the chance on a $50 book not to insure it I do from time to time, but would expect to eat the cost of the book if it was damaged or lost . But rule of thumb for most people is insure books that have value of $100 or more. It's what, $2-3 dollars? I would take not insuring the book a mistake on the seller, and he should not pass that on to the buyer. All a part of doing business.

  11. That's a pretty serious impact dent. If the book had an existing crease it is highly possible for it to detach like that. Even if it did not have a crease, given the books age and amount of movement it had while en route it could have happened.
  12. GPA for 2011 in 9.6 was a little over 700, last sale for 9.6 was almost 1800..... Now if they would just make Avenger movies with Bishop I would be rolling in dough. Or Dazzler.
  13. I need to take another pic of my 1-6 run.
  14. Figured all the other keys and semi-keys had a thread (if one exists I apologise). I'll get the ball rolling.

  16. To get a decent shot at Dave's books, you not only need to be there very early on set-up day, you need a flame thrower to chase the hyenas away from his boxes. It's amazing that the carcass wasn't entirely picked over and you were able to score that book. But you know that already. What was funny about this year is Dave just set up and said he was open for business. Usually he draws cards for dealers to look through his new books. The black swoosh on the books kept lots of nice copies available for bottom feeders like me. I have about 8 other hard to find PF's from the collection I hope to scan tomorrow.
  17. That's the story. First part of the Marvels were sold off a while back. The rest of the Marvels and DC have now surfaced and are scattered to the 4 corners of the earth already.
  18. Here is a tease. Most were in this shape or nicer. elieve it or not I was the 5th person to pick through this box and this book was still sitting there.
  19. Hey, Joey... what's up with these teaser drive-bys? How 'bout posting some scans with these cryptic missives... It would surely be appreciated. I am back in town now. Will scan a few tonight.
