  1. These 9.6's are so respectable, there may be a few 9.8's in the bunch waiting to be discovered.
  2. My copy has white pages. 7.0 white pages.

    AUUGH

A few notable ones I wish I had back. Werewolf by Night 32 in 9.8 W. Sold for $15,000.00 which was a record then. FF 48 in 9.6 White Pages. Used it as trade bait in a deal for a 5.5 AF 15. I no longer have the AF 15. Star Wars #1 35 cent variant in 9.0. The dealer I bought it from is a friend and he asked if I could sell it back to him, which I did for a profit...but compared to todays value I got about 50% of what it is worth. TOS 39 in 7.0. Sold way too soon for $3,800.00 The 3 copies of Hulk 181 in 9.6 I sold around $2,500.00 each at the time. Fortunately I kept a copy. Like others have said...made a good profit on them and purchased more stuff, paid off my mortgage, so bitter sweet about it.
  4. What day were these shipped out? I believe they were received by CGC on 8/25.
  5. Correct. There would be no reason to replace a good staple. What is the reason for purchasing the book? Is it for you, or to flip? If it’s for you...you can always use tape to attach the cover again. It will get a universal grade, but CGC will grade it as if the tape was not present and the cover was detached. Only bonus to doing this is the aesthetic look of the comic.
  6. The country would have to open its borders. Its still 9 months away, so anything can happen.
  7. I would take it out, give it a good once over before sending in. Whoever presses it will have to remove it anyway.
  8. Incredible Hulk #220 page 3 Buscema and Chan No major stains and tears. Nice and clean. $2,200.00
  9. First gets it. No one on any lists. Shipping is not included. No returns on artwork.
  10. Any color loss along the indent? The bag can rub off color, especially where it has the seam. If all the color is there, it can be pressed out without any significant impact to the grade. If the color is gone it will get dinged heavily...almost like a subscription crease.
  11. Agreed, that should be an easy fix. Only additional damage should be a pronounced crease where the paper folded over.
  12. I have submitted well over 100,000 books under my dealer account over the last 14 years and I have noticed an interesting trend for 9.9 and 10.0 books. I may go a few years without getting any, and then all of a sudden get 5-6 9.9's within a few months of each other. Time passes and again nothing above 9.8 and "boom" a few 9.9's within a few months of each other. Take it for what you will, but I see a small pattern. I have gotten a few 10.0's but they were not conventional comics. Either premiere format or leather type (lady Death) or thick stock moderns.
  13. I am allergic to cats. I don't always know where the books I am working on come from, but I know immediately if they have or had cats. In addition to the gloves I wear, I always have a mask nearby. It is the only way I can get through working on books like these. Once done, out they go and I have to throw away everything I used on those books. Since it is short term it is an expensive solution, but not an issue. Your situation sounds a lot worse, and the safest route would be to move these books and buy ones you are able to handle before purchasing. Stink for sure, but better than dying from an anaphylactic episode.
  14. Agreed. The book took an impact, the cover adhered to the inner well and the interior pages shifted. Are there any small tears around the staples?
  15. Some not only bag, but they use rubber baby buggy bumpers.
  16. I have no doubt they are being crushed by the weight of their own success.
  17. And insurance value. Moderns cap out at $200 I believe. If you are sending in books like Walking Dead #1 or certain modern variants that may be worth $5,000.00 or more can be sent in under modern tier, but you run the chance of the books getting damaged and you are only insured for $200 per book. That's why many send in higher dollar moderns under the higher tiers.
  18. If you think about it a private signing could add 6 weeks to TAT's. CGC usually guarantees a 3 week guarantee if the books aren't pressed. The pressed books are 6 weeks. So after the non-pressed moderns are done, the pressed books hit the graders desks. I am hoping that other tiers are not put on hold, but the only ones who knows is the CGC staff.
