  1. I would suggest sending in raw books to get signed, instead of cracking out 9.8's in the hope that they retain their grade. There are too many factors working against you. The tale of a grade going down after a signature, is a tale told often on the boards.
  2. A scan would help in making a determination, but CGC is grading MUCH tighter today then they were 5 years ago. Even with a press you may run the risk of the book getting downgraded.
  3. I don't think the first concern really is an issue. The second is more likely to happen out of the two. When was the book initially graded?
  4. Please pardon my ignorance, but why would you be sending a book that already is a 9.8 in for a pressing?
  5. Don't have it in hand yet, but one I am happy to have in my collection.
  6. One last price drop. $1,900.00 Ends Sunday at 10:00 PM.
  7. It’s hard to get that crease out 100% due to the thickness of the cover.
  8. Understood. I feel for you guys outside the US border. Shipping costs take a huge bite out of your profits.
  9. People press for two reasons (at least the books I get in). 1. Monetary reason. The higher the grade, the higher the asking price. 2. Condition. I get in books (not many in comparison) that people ask to have pressed just so they present better in a Mylar, etc. At a certain point it is better to just buy a book in better shape, compared to the costs of the pressing, with the exception of sentimental value. i.e. first book they ever owned or purchased.
  10. Look at the demand 197 has compared to the issues around it. His only published work on the title.
  11. Sweet. Hard to imagine Wolverine was 18 months old when this came out.
  12. A book like this will show marked improvement if done properly. Here I see that a press will not fix. Bottom corners of the front cover are soft ad have some associated color loss. Outside edge has a little wear. Where the heavy part of the bend is affecting the front cover, there is stress that breaks color. Assuming the rest of the book comes out the way I think it will, you should be in the VF- or better range. Again, all depends on the experience of the person pressing.
  13. The book being properly hydrated is just as important as the skill of the one pressing the book.
  14. If you are talking about the color breaks...absolutely. If he is looking to remove the dirt, bends and creases a proper press will remove all of them. The key is using someone competent.
  15. In all the years I have been doing this I have never had a book damaged...except for this week. Other than that I have been happy with all the carriers. I take care of them at different times of the year to keep them happy as well. I did have a package sent USPS Priority mail take 5 days to get from Orlando FL to Port St. Lucie. Usually it is less than 48 hours,
  16. Going to leave this up for a few more days. Then off to auction it goes. If you pay by check the price is $2,000.00
