  1. Most have trouble with the concept of grading. I had a customer maybe 12 years ago who had way more money than comic knowledge. He would buy books and go "this is a slam dunk 8.0" and I would have to rain on his parade pointing out everything that was wrong with the book. Then when the grade would come back the one I predicted, he would get mad at me. Needless to say after going round and round a couple of times, I asked him to find someone else to submit his books through. He stopped posting here many years ago, he probably found a more secure way to grow his capital. Sadly, his is far from an isolated story.
  2. Also overlooked when buying a book. Tanning gets hammered these days, as it should. I have seen books that are structurally 9.4 or better come back in the 7.5-8.5 range depending on how severe the tanning was. The staining has already been mentioned.
  3. Based on this clink auction, I would say books are selling very well. Some books took a hit early on in the virus pandemic, but it seems that has already leveled off.
  4. 8.5ish Lots of little spine dings that a press would help. Dirt on back cover that a dry clean would remove. Edge wear with color loss. Color break top right corner front cover. Crease that breaks color bottom corner outside edge back cover.
  5. If the book is cleaned up and everything else goes well I would not be surprised at a 4.5 based on my observations below. 1. You have a full length readers crease on the front cover. Plus many color breaks along the spine. 2. Wear on two corners. 3. The spine roll which will leave a faint remnant where it was creased on the back of the comic, once the spine roll is removed. 4. It is a PGX book. It can come back restored or conserved. It is a gamble you take with their books.
  6. Yes. The pictures are just the first stage of the spine roll removal. Cleaning and pressing came afterwards.
  7. I was floored how well my Kull PF’s did last few auctions.
  8. Ill be watching the Hulk's with great interest. Especially 145, 147 and 151.
  9. Agreed. Interesting that the tanning is not mentioned, as it undoubtedly was hit hard by the graders.
  10. In order for it to be worth it, this particular issue needs to be 9.4 or better. A press and clean will help but it won’t get you to a 9.4.
  11. The picture you posted was after the clean and press?
  12. As a ten year old, this cover bothered me to the core. I remember asking my parents if the dog was OK months after seeing this on the newsstand.
  13. Sometimes PO Boxes have different zip codes. I live in 32746, yet my PO Box is 32795. I am 1/2 mile away from the PO and it is within the incorporated city limits of Lake Mary FL.
