  1. Very weird. My eyes must be playing tricks on me.
  2. Turn just the front cover open. Is the cover still attached at the top staple?
  3. Those are both super sharp copies. I am floored by how much these books are worth now in 9.8.
  4. Based on the miscut you would lose .2 to .4 if the rest of the book is perfect. Check the top staple...looks like it has an issue.
  5. Once cleaned up it has a good shot.
  6. As far as availability in 9.8 some of the hardest Hulk books to find are: 137 (1 in 9.8) 145 (1 in 9.8) 158 (none in 9.8) 177 188 193
  7. There are the defects in addition to what has already been pointed out. Small thumb dent top edge front cover. Slight and should press out as it doesn't break color. Light soiling back cover. Light color rub outside edge front cover. 3-4 small color breaks on the spine.
  8. While not famous, this book is a white whale for me. Only 1 9.8 on the census and the last one sold for 20x what a 9.6 is valued at.
  9. I look at CGC like insurance. They let you know it was restored when the seller had no idea. I consider it the cost of business.
  10. Send it to someone who knows what they are doing. A simple test can result in a ruined book.
  11. Too many color breaks for this book to get any grade starting with a 9. Pressing would help minimally. Pressing will get everything to lay flat, but you will still be left with all the color breaks. I see at least 3 breaks just in the corner picture you shared with us. A full size scan or picture would be very helpful in helping assign a final grade guess.
  12. A lot of people overreact or look for a refund, it seems to be normal business practices for some.
  13. It was just a piece of paper.
