Sharon! Purple book!!! forgot about it the last time.
-
surfer asked that i post this over here.
-
Well I'll take that as a compliment.
The seller wouldn't allow bidders from outside the US to bid on this so I had to get my people to snipe this bad boy at the last minute. I think at $470 this is a pretty good deal especially considering what that 6.5 copy sold for.
a GREAT deal on that book; what are you expecting, 5.5-6.0'ish?
-
Geez, why doesn't anyone sell off some nice high grade Submariners.....
Or, maybe they do, and I just don't know the secret handshake to the Big Boys Club....
learn the super-secret timely-geek cajun-style handshake, and it's yours.
-
A nice upgrade of my old copy at a very good price.

surfer, i saw that bad boy on ebay, and wondered if you'd be on it. every time i see a cap 77 or a subby 32 i think of you.

Just inked out a deal on this baby, not the prettiest copy, but complete and unrestored!
Been a while since I posted a new book, had to hold off after the Cap 1, the jones was real bad....so I pulled the trigger on this baby. (thumbs u
nicely done, geek.
and how 'bout those ducks?

Ah, the Timely thread...still the best on the boards. Beautiful book Brian, but it sure looks better in person. Jon, quit/keep showing off. Would love to see more Schomburg recreations posted here. Not many around though. And Gator, I hope to see all the Marvels in three weeks. Otherwise I will have my SEC referee friends pull some strings. A lot of calls could go LSU's way, know what I mean?
since I am flying on real "small" planes, unlikely I will be able to bring anything other than my toothbrush, and my Gator Karma...but, ponscon is not too, too far away, hopefully I can unviel a complete set of some timely run!
gator
a toothbrush? so glad to see you're open to new ideas.

Very cool. Can't get enough pics of your runs ... Wait a minute, that didn't sound right. Let's say I love it when you share those beauties with us.
Btw, I notice that your want list is increasing by leaps and bounds. How does it feel to be freed from the Timely shackles? It's nice to see Captain Battle # 2 in that list, you'll love the book once you get it.
having a ball scrooge; cap't battle 2 and 5 are HARD. i have the 1, and 3 is common, but, man, those other two.

The Miss Victory is cool too! Those early stories by Chas Quinlan (I'm guessing?) are always a hoot.
here are some more girls; v, altho' usually for victory, tonite is for....
i liked the "v" motif, but this conventional pic shows the covers better.
-
Those are GORGEOUS, and...*sigh* now I need a Namora, AND a Sun Girl...
and maybe a pink pool table?
and the floor space...
...
you're about to get a son-in-law; don't be greedy.

and here's the rest of the timely girl title canon.

OK, I finally had time to look for it again, now I know you all saw MARGO, but have you met MARGA, the Panther Woman?
sharon, have you seen this bad girl before? it's a holyoke one-shot; the book is not coverless-that IS the cover [see the price and number?]. pretty rare; i like it, i like it alot.

War! War! War! -
...she said to the tarleton twins.

I was going to post this in the "Confessions of a Crack Addict" thread, but figured Timely geeks would get more utils out of this than just a good ol' fashioned crackhead.
It was an absolute joy going through this book the other night after I freed it from its synthetic coffin to breathe a little. (Sorry Alan, I just couldn't wait.) It was like sipping a nice glass of scotch. Enjoy!:
If you've never seen it, this is what the Olshevsky/Chicago code looks like. It is usually about a third of the way in, on the inside margin:
I thought this was a really cool visual when I was flipping through this book:
Stunning copy. I love the way the light blue sky makes the rest of the colors pop off the book. Great pick up!!
Ken
me too ken, but what a waste to use that sky technique on this book when the contrast could have been employed on a world's finest rickshaw, tug-of-war or unicycle cover.

one of the best 5 issue mini runs there is (in my opinion)
gator
figured I would add the rest of them....
great books...as sacentaur and ryanh pointed out, the #10 and #11 are as great as the first 5 Everett books!
rick
way to go buddy, beautiful books!!! being able to fondle those will help you get your mojo back after that first saturday in october.

Sweet books! What's the grade on the Cap 9?
Angelo

gator
cap 9 has a special place in my heart--my very first timely. still got it; wouldn't think of upgrading that one.

Another Blonde Phantom (#13), one my all-time favorite covers:
szelim! i think that's my old copy; would recognize that corner anywhere.

This thread is dangerous, I HAD to have a Miss America Story...
I know she was only in a few issues, not sure which ones, but I know she's in here...I might even have to do priority mail,
...
Sharon, she's in the first 4 of the magazines--the first one of course with the girl in costume, the one you just bought and the next two. check out this link for the ones you need.
-
More girls! Less purple!
here's a g.a. girl for you; another of my very favorites.
-
Thanks,I'll keep you in mind if I ever lose mine...
i'm proud of a geek. beautiful book. show us a page or two of check marks, why don't you?
-
Thanks so much, guys...I didn't post this one because there is no female, but as long as we are digressing into Purple, I am also fond of Dinosaur covers...although this is a bit new for Golden Age...
sharon, you're wrong; check the eyelashes--that's a girl t rex!
-
The top book in the top pic should look like this (my copy) ... well, Billy's copy is nicer for sure but since he can't take pictures ...
