I bought this from Stephen Ritter about 8, or so, months ago.
One of the nicest guys in the hobby!
one of the good guys, to be sure.
-
Looks like that japanese fella being thrown is farting little paratroopers.
parapoots.

Twenty five great books Steve! Please post twenty five more.
OK - ask and ye shall receive! (these are also siblings in the same "family")
I am trying to see which family my favorite Amazing Mystery Funnies fits in to. You know, the green one!Yes, I know (not in these two portraits; that one belongs to a different "family"
)
STEVE
oh, man that's pretty II [it is the summer of the sequel].

Started as a completionist but after 20 years have become a key and cover hunter
Me too.
i'm a pathetic completionist probably in need of a twelve-step program. examples: since my timely/atlas superhero collection needed the two men's adventures and five young men, i found myself not only compelled to get the entire runs of both titles, but even the predecessors, "cowboy romances" and "true western/true adventures." the one ideal book with the witness in it? i had to get the other 4 ideals, even the last one which is a romance book. you say venus 11-19 are semi-superhero? gotta have the first 10, too. know why all winners is missing a 20? cuz it was "all teen 20"--HAD to get one. marvel tales took over from marvel mystery, and you say one of them has a sun girl appearance? hell, that's only another 66 i need.
but i'm having fun growing the collection while i simultaneously shrink the bank account.
-
My first Timely. Didn't break the bank and happy with the results. 1st one under my belt (GA books #2 and #3 on the way soon)
Thanks for all your advice everyone.
you've caught the bug, and may you never recover.

Great to see all these wonderful, rarely-seen books being posted lately...congrats to all!
Here's a recent purchase...a classic Crandall cover from Doll Man #5! Highest Graded too!
"...once the candle burns, you will be in total DARKNESS!! (insert lurid scream) "
GE
a beauty!!

Just picked up this beauty today at the Paradise Toronto Comicon!!
Amazing-Man #16 CGC 6.5 (OW/W)
j'naut, i see that little bit of foxing down at the bottom; anyway you lucked into an undisclosed Larson?!?!
-

Ciorac, the Gandhi of Golden Age. The Funny Book Mother Teresa.
The Switzerland of the Collecting world!
I feel the love brother. And I will, from this day forward, love all comics equally and as if they were my own.
BTW, I think my own Detective 27 needs to pay me a visit.
no, he's the Rodney King ["can't we all just get along?"] of the hobby. and mother teresa was way better looking than pons.
and isn't that primitive little figure of superman on supe 1 reused somewhere else? didn't mattie write an article about it somewhere?
-
You bet it does! In fact DC was so hard up for good covers that they used it on Batman 16 too!
But I shouldn't say that too loud or I might get another "*spoon* PLEASE" outta Bill.
"might"? i can count on him to defend mama d.c. more than i can count on my wristwatch. and i've got a pretty good one.
-
Bill, I am glad you mentioned "boring to the point of excrutiating".
oops! Sorry Rich, I forgot we are only supposed to talk about how pretty the covers are......
Pretty cover on the AF 15.....ooohhhh.....ahhhhh...
Better?
Bill, you big lovable nerd!
These are just for you....
DC RULES...there, I said it. Are you happy?
hey, doesn't that real fact 5 i just bought have that same shot of bats and the boy?
-
Gotta hand it to Stan and Marvel, it only took them 23 years from their first superhero (1939) to one that has some staying power and worldwide appeal!! (1962) Odd how DC got it back to back in '38 and '39.
Captain America & The Human Torch
Like those characters have captured the imagination of the world over the last six decades! Torch is gaining some popularity with the FF movies, but where was he since his inception? In terms of global appeal, you have Batman, Superman and Spiderman.
not according to worldwide boxoffice; the mediocre x3 movie was way more successful worldwide than a real good superman flick and a GREAT batman flick [xmen 459 mil, sup 391 and bat 371].

Talk about a head popping cover....
Until now I had never noticed all the limbs popping off of the soldiers in the background!
Beautiful book Dan.
limbs? don't i see a disembodied head flying as well?
So you did miss the head popping reference. Sorry, I must have been too oblique.
i am a simpleton! i read it as "eye-popping" and didn't even get your clever twist on it. sorry.

Cross-posted from the NEW Trolley folder - 3 new beauties added to the harem. They're bright, tight, near white, and a complete delight.
STEVE (geez, I love that Church Fight 32
)
all this time, i suspected your were a closet cross-poster.

Is the November copy the reprint??
yes, it surely is. detective27kid asked me to ask you if you have any of them you'd be willing to sell him cheap in light of it's reprint nature.

1. Last name is Parker
something gnawed at me all nite long about your contention that the name commonality is one of the reasons i'm pro-spidey----then it hit me; i FINALLY understand your fervent love for the boy wonder.
Billy,
While I certainly am down with the fact that Ciorac loves Robin (His favorite character, I'm convinced). But you have confused me with this last statement.
Please tell me, WHAT IS THE CONNECTION?
i'm not a d.c. guy, but isn't robin's real name "?"

and just to confirm your open-mindedness, seattle got no bad calls in the '06 superbowl, right? isn't that what you've always told me?
Sheesh, you got nothing else?
Coming from a guy who's
1. Last name is Parker
2. Sleeps in Lil Petey Parker underoos
3. Prays at the alter of Spiderman
4. Only likes comics that sport the color red...
Inferring that I am closed-minded is somehow as incongruous a statement as I have heard in a long time.
Be happy, I picked a Timely!!
and to make you proud, check ebay from last nite and see who won a 7.5 green lantern 9. not much red on it, i know you'll agree.
