  1. this is a case where the detective in me would choose the AA 16....tec 38 is "common", and even in high grade, far more readily available than "any" unrestored AA 16 (gd or better)...

    gator

I agree with Rick. And for the record I will take the MF 52 as well.

well, no kidding. you didn't call your stores "all star comics" did you?

  2. Which one would you Choose?

The choice is relatively simple for me...AS #8 @ CGC 9.0

a "no brainer" for me too.....MF52 in a nano second! The 1st appearance of Wonder Woman, who does not even appear on the ugly cover of AS8.... zzz zzz

VS. a truly rare in grade, high grade copy of MF52 --- Golden Age Scarce Mega- Key with a killer cover that includes the 1st Spectre.. :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

All Star 8 isn't even in the same league as More Fun 52....The Spectre uses All Star 8 as toilet paper!

    Steve

    very well said.

  3. 1. All labels good, color doesn't matter!

    2. All information good-Full disclosure stablizes market and values!

    3. New guide for GA with comparative sales and averaged real market values for current guide value! Key issue sales high and low with factors of books such as resto, pedigree, ect...

    4.Oregon Duck football Rules!

    5. and I love beer and comics!

I'm not sure how the rules to Oregon Duck football apply to comics, or if there is really enough available info for the kind of guide you're looking for, but beer and comics - (thumbs u

you know, I didn't even know Oregon had a football team?...isn't that an all girls school? :baiting:

    gator

hey, why don't you wait 'til your team does something of note before you make fun of someone else's favorite....wait a minute--oh, yeah, now i remember. never mind.

a few from this month's "haul"...between SD, Chicago and some friends, I am happy to have had a chance to pick these up!

    gator

That's a beautiful group of red & yellow books, way to go gator!! :headbang: When you knock out the rest of the run, you'll have to rent Billy Parkers library loft for a full run group shot.

as long as i take the pix; no way i let the guy near the first editions up there.

  5. hello all...

didn't heritage just auction off some 9.0? of the 76,77, and 78?...I know they had overhangs, so could't be slabbed, but I Thought there were nice?

    gator

76 and 78, no 77 in that recent auction.

The 77 from the same collection was in the previous auction and it was a 6.5.

And Billy breathed a huge sigh af relief!

I think it sold for well over $3K so Billy was probably doing a gig when he saw that.

You are right! I am almost positive he told me he was out frog hunting when he got the news!

i was going to let that spelling gaffe go, especially since it involved a compliment to my book, but damn that's funny.

  6. New Timelys just back from CGC. To say I am happy is very much an understatement....

    daring4.jpg

Got this book many moons ago from sacentaur. The Schomburg cover is awesome!

That is stunning! Look at those reds! (worship)

we disagree thea--i just don't see the bad guys as communists on that cover.

Yeah, you're probably right. More likely they're Albanian anarchists. :sumo:

    thea--now HERE are some reds!

I can't for the life of me remember where I got this book.

    Is anyone missing one?......Just kidding!

not sure why, but this one is almost always found in crappy condition. pretty books, you big geek.

and he doesn't lie--that daring 8 is about the best looking funny-book you ever saw in person. so glad i thumbed it up real good a few months ago before it was off to cgc [i was pretty careful, it only lost about a quarter-grade by the time all was said and done].

  8. First off, I would like to give a big shout out of kudos to Steve Carey for working with me on this book. First class all the way. This book is going from one very good home to another, but you already knew that. Thanks again. (thumbs u

A few of my fellow forumites have recently had the opportunity to see this book live and in person. Those of you that have... you know why I am "giddy like a school girl" right now. This book is sizzlin', an absolute smoker.

Chicago copy, properly coded on the inside margin of the 16th page and all: :acclaim::cloud9:

Johnny, how long you reckon it's been since these two bad boys were back to back in a short box? i hope they're happy again.

  9. Paul what's the grade on your MMC? Restored?

I am not sure of the Tech grade, but 9.4 would not be out of the question, with very slight professional...might be moderate as the book was cleaned. Basically has some spine work and other then cleaning/pressing nadda, nothing, zip...so from the spine over all origional. You really cant tell any resto, its very good work. top notch.

    Paul

"I oviously passed on it..it is overgraded...probably more like a 1.5 , the resto job looks horrible (it was obviously a frankenbook!!), only a bafoon would pay $2 for that POS...."

at least that is what I am telling myself for NOT buying it!!!!

great, great looking book, congrats paul!

    gator

"bafoon." for all of you confused by this, be aware that he speaks of a cross between a baboon and a buffoon, seen only in florida and which species historically has comprised just about 92% of gainesville grads.

I believe there was one spotted behind my table in Chicago. Had a goofy grin on its face.

i saw it; it kept reaching for the "rock happening" issues in the dollar boxes.
