  1. Maybe consignors not wanting to lose their pants on their art?
  2. Doesn’t mean the price was soft, just maybe it was overpriced when offered on the dealers website.
  3. I’ll take uneducated Art Dealers for $500, Pat.
  4. Not quite ready to retire. When I do, I’ll stay in NY.
  5. You can hire anyone. Just because CGC hires someone who collects art, doesn’t make them able to authenticate art. They would have to hire someone who has been involved for decades.
  6. As I have posted before… Who at CGC is qualified to authenticate art?
  7. So tell me… who at CGC is qualified to authenticate original art?
  8. Frank gave Klaus 8 x 11 layouts to work from. Klaus then lightboxed them to standard comic art size.
  9. No. Klaus working off Miller’s 8 x 11 layouts.
  10. A Comic Art Gallery is a severe waste of money. Rent, utilities, framing, advertising, only to get a couple people a week. It was quite lonely there 5 days a week. As a former gallery owner I can attest to all the above.
  11. Until you mentioned it, I completely forgot about that lunch. As a rule, I don’t have many people up here. In 32 years, I can count the number of people I’ve had here on 1 1/2 hands. And the people that have come here have been invited.
  12. I bought a lot of art from Joe back in the late 70s, including a Ditko Spider-Man splash from an issue in the 30s for $250.
  13. Even “credible” dealers can be wrong. I’m not saying this is a fake or not.
  14. I have a Milton Caniff Terry and the Pirates daily from 5/15/41 for sale on my website. https://www.graphiccollectibles.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1506&fbclid=IwAR28u_WNwZZsjDeOW3xsERgoRPGdqwYCL7WYoisrwoQATT2lt3h3b4lAkfE
  15. No. the consignor thought he was the smartest person in the room and tried for a quick flip.
  16. The poster. That’s by Miller and Varley. I sold that also. But no other b/w art except for half of the first issue and maybe a couple pages that were given away.
  17. Only about half of the first issue of Ronin is out in the wild. Miller sold some years ago. It’s why you see the same few pages pop up all the time.
  18. That Ronin page has been sold and resold so many times, I’m surprised it reached that price.
  19. There is one other Miller DKR statue original out there. It was a different angle. I sold it last year.
