  1. Right you are! (thumbs u I just didn't have a slabbed copy. Andy
  2. I saw that. I would have been bidding, but the seller is one of those "US only" types. Andy
  3. Here's my run of Mlle. Marie from Star Spangled War Stories. Recently slabbed so I'll never be able to look at the awful artwork inside. SSWS #84 SSWS #85 SSWS #86 SSWS #87 SSWS #88 SSWS #89 SSWS #91 (She's not on the cover, but she sure is inside) That's all folks! Andy
  4. I suppose accepting "bids" in the thread is fine, but that was not what you did yesterday. You simply posted a book for sale and solicited offers, which is against board rules since you did not list a price you were willing to sell the book for. That was not an auction. Actually, now that I think of it, it was strange day all-around on your end...you brazenly broke the rules, and then sold the book to someone on your own probation thread? I wouldn't say he brazenly broke the rules. We discussed all day about someone running a test auction and he did. Breaking the forum guidelines in the process, yes, but done intentionally to test the auction process as opposed to brazenly. What he didn't do was give a firm ending time to the auction and of course the whole 'when a price I agree to is reached' thing was silly and did make it a non-auction and not much of a test. But he tried I think. I was under the impression that the "testing" part was to be done in the VCC section. Andy
  5. I like this book, too bad it's a reading copy... Andy
  6. (thumbs u I don't think people realize how simple and straightforward this is going to be. If it becomes a problem, then we can deal with it, but all this chicken-little conjecture about the end of the forums as we know them is simply not going to come to pass. I don't have any problem with running auctions. I just think that many of the board sellers are seeing $$$ in their eyes without really thinking through what the problems could be. That said, I'd like to get on the list for a "forum store" as soon as we start those up. I'd like to be pinned towards the top if possible. I'll take the 2nd spot from the top. Andy
  7. Careful not to spill any beer on it, troop! Andy
  8. because someone will want to take possession of that book... Andy
  9. Perhaps a VCC-24 hour Auction? Maybe make it a twice a year event. Just an excuse to give FD and Shin more work to do. Could work, could be hell. Andy
  10. ...how long would an auction be for? 24 hours? more? Andy
  11. Love that book! I recall that auction if memory serves. One of those times I was getting ready to snipe it and just plum forgot while I was doing yardwork or somesuch. Congrats! mmm, very nice indeed! (thumbs u Andy
  12. Although personally, I don't snipe, I can see how it would have won you this book at a much lower price-and it would have been yours. High bidder is high alright. Don't know him at all. Seller is most definitely, our one and only, Keith Marlow! Congrats Keith!!! Andy
  13. Yeah, you were in at $675 right? I was just going to post that auction and ask if anyone knows something that I don't. Nice final price for the seller! Andy
  14. I passed on all of them, and I didn't watch them either, so I'm not sure who the lucky winners were. Andy BTW, did Oakland's have multiples of the same issues?
  15. Just wondering, Brent, if you were happy with your auction results.... Andy
  16. Not many Ajax/Farrell war books on this thread. The Fighting Man 4 from Feb-53. It's a beater, but interesting to see what the minor publishers were up to pre-code. I don't have any idea about credits, but the interior artwork is pretty crude. Jack Those are all great books, Jack. I'm especially fond of lesser known publishers such as Farrell here. I've got a smattering but I don't think I have this book. Very nice! (thumbs u Andy
  17. A 9.0 Double Cover!!!! Wow wow wow!!!!!!!!!!!! No introduction necessary is right, another fantastic beauty! Glad you got the posting figured out Keith, beautiful, beautiful books! Andy
