  1. Thanks Adam. I'm trying to think who showed me that War Comics 11 for the first time. When you showed me a scan of that book about a year ago I was hot as fire to track one down for my collection. After a year with no luck and then I open my most recent purchase yesterday and nearly fainted when that was included as a freebie. I love these boards and thank you for showing me that incredible book. Also another Kudos to Buttock for the freebies. Not sure who showed you that either. But I am certain that buttock is a mensch! Hey! Who you callin...... (pauses to look up "mensch").....oh. Fay's enthusiasm made me feel all warm & fuzzy inside so I had to do a little nice-nice. Fay's enthusiasm picks everybody up! Andy
  2. I really enjoyed Karl Moline's work from Route 666 by Crossgen. His work was stylish, catchy and overall very well drawn. Don't know if he would be considered the most talented and underrated artist since 1961, but I really like his stuff. (thumbs u Andy
  3. He doesn't collect this! (thank god!) Maybe I'll own one soon.
  4. Just a question, Greg, are there any books that you don't collect? Andy
  5. The other one you're talking about sounds like this one: SSWS #92 http://www.comics.org/graphics/covers/945/400/945_4_0092.jpg Andy
  6. Hey Fay, I bought this BEFORE the ebay embargo. And to be completely honest, I fell off the wagon... sort of. I got an email from a friend that a rare Ballantine War book (one of my other collecting habits) came up, and because of the scarcity of the book I had to jump in.... Has anyone ever read any of those Ballantine war histories from the late 1960s/early 1970s. The Series was called 'The History of the Violent Century'. It's a great, broad overview of WW1 and WW2 (plus a few other conflicts) written by some truly fine historians, like John Keegan and Alan Wykes. Anyway, we had a bunch growing up as a kid, and I always dreamed of getting the full set. There are 145 books in the series, and I am down to THREE LEFT!!! Here's the one I snagged off the 'bay..... I've been prowling on this for a while. But I haven't been looking at ANY comics - honest. Shep, do you need any of these Ballantine books? 1914 Opening Moves Barrage Bastogne Bradley Defeat in Malaya Fall of the Phillipines Kasserine New Georgia Operation Torch P-51 Palaus Ploesti Salerno Spitfire The Raiders Andy
  7. Nice book and great shape! (thumbs u Andy
  8. Still alright, bud. Nice book! Andy
  9. Yeah, that OAAW 195 sure looks better than an 8.5.
  10. Okay, it does appear to be the same book. It looks like he tucked the bottom right corner into the book for this current auction and it was unfolded for the first auction. The white box near the bottom shows evidence of this....I think. Anyway, the new buyer just got a much better deal than the first one. Andy
  11. It looks like a different book. The one that sold for $355 seems to be in better shape than the one selling right now. The current one also has the bottom right corner missing completely and the other clearly has it's corner. Dunno. A little strange to have more than one copy unless you're a weirdo like me, but they appear different to me. Andy
  12. Well, he's got some more books up right now http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZtennislookin Lots of nice graded ones, and an assortment of raw. If the seller's reading this right now Andy
  13. That book would be nice as a true VF- 7.5, and if it is, $90 is alright. The top notch books don't come around too often and usually don't last too long. Mind you, if that book really turns out to be a Fine/Fine+ then $90 is way too much. (IMHO) Good luck! Andy
  14. The books in hand don't appear faded, but I can no longer compare them to the original pictures, as they are now removed. Andy
  15. Great books, troop, and from what you're mentioning, not bad prices! Way to go! (thumbs u Andy
  16. Hey Tats, Sorry to hear about your packaging. I received 4 books, and they were in bags and boards, taped together inside 2 harder pieces of cardboard. To me, his shipping was pretty good. The 4 books were: OFF70 7.5 If I were selling this, I'd give it a F- 5.5 OFF 64 7.5 Slightly better than the #70, this is a Fine 6.0 SSWS 97 4.5 Graded fairly well, I'd say-it's a fine 6.0 with a popped upper staple, VG+ 4.5 is the only grade I can agree with SSWS 154 7.0 With the spine creases, wear at top, chipping at right, and rust migration from one staple on back cover, I'd be giving this one a Fine 6.0 These books didn't appear faded, but I will have a look later today with my overcopies. Andy
  17. Here's a few books that I've just got in. G. I. Combat #37 Nova Scotia copy, bought as a VF/NM from ComicConnect, really nice book and happy to own it, didn't come with any certificate, though.... Our Fighting Forces #19 bought on eBay as a F/VF, again, nice book, but the back cover has pretty heavy foxing (described by seller as "light"). Give me your opinions, please. Our Fighting Forces #70, ugh...bought from same seller as that raw GIC 87 8.0, this book was described as a 7.5. Glad my total bill was only $87.00 and not $2000. Battle Cry #1 Cool book. I think it was described as a Fine, and I'm quite happy no matter what. Wicked flamethrower cover and I love that little head as their logo.
