  1. I picked this one up in the comiclink auction. I've always liked this particular cover even though Flash's head is a little oddly shaped.
  2. Actually should be a time limit, or sellers can just let it run till it finally meets a price they want. But that doesn't really bother me either. I never really understood why people care how many or what forums there are. If it doesn't interest you, then don't click on it. Seems easy enough to me.
  3. I don't see anything wrong with an auction as long as there is a starting price and an end time. i don't think it matters what the starting price is either. If it is to high, no one bids, and the thread doesn't get bumped. A seperate section probably wouldn't be a bad idea just because it would make it easier for potential bidders to find and search the auction style listings. Concerns about the listings and bumps taking up front page realestate are understandable, but I don't see it being any worse than the constant bumping of closed or dead threads for chit chat or a or one of these .
  4. Great group of books. Love the AB, and I passed on that book because Bill only graded it a 4.5
  5. Short story of how I obtained this one in this thread.
  6. Personally, I find some of the sales pitches in the threads a little annoying, but as long as the information being posted is found to be true and accurate, I don't see a problem with it. Even if the information is from a source that some find to be inaccurate, as long as it is reported accurately. Are sellers usually going to only report the information that helps thier goal? Of course. Like it or not, it really is up to the buyer to make an educated decision as to wether or not to purchase based on the given information, or information obtained by the buyers own research. A buyer has got to use all resources and try to make an educated decision about the market. Would it be noble for all sellers to freely give negative as well as positive information about thier product for sale? Yes, but it isn't going to happen, nor do I think it should be expected. On another note, excluding books that don't come for sale up that often, I think the only reason raw books sometimes sell nearly as high raw as if slabbed is because of the gamblers out there. Look at Zillaf4. BTW, I don't think Transplants thread had much of a "sales pitch". I actually think it was well constructed on his part to get what might be the maximum amount without having to undergo the task of submitting the books himself. It also left the buyers with some room to profit if they slab the books and the grades are accurate.
  7. So, the back wall has Batman #4 and Green Hornet #3 along with additional copies of Action #35 and Champ #3. cool
  8. C'mon, since there are no more Houston Oilers, you can give the Cowboys some slack.
  9. The UPS man just dropped this one off. I am sure many of you will know exactly where I got it from. It will be going to CGC next week. Unfortunately after having it in hand I am expecting it to receive a signifigantly lower grade than advertised. I'll still be able to live with the grade I think it's going to get. (unless it's a PLOD - looks ok though) It's not like this issue is readily available and it is a pretty attractive copy with decent PQ.
  10. This is a list of possibilities for the one unknown based on the cover date. I can't figure it out. 11. Based on the cover dates, I think the first one on the right could be a Mystery Men #7.
  12. holy ! Was it priced well? I think so. It also traded books as well as some money for it, so that helped.
  13. I think this is my first post in this forum because I don't collect much OA. Today was a good day though. I found this at a small local con today. It was quite a surprise to see it there. A little bit of cash and a few comics to trade later and I'm now the new owner.
  14. I didn't expect to find this at our little Daytona Beach show today.
  15. Human Torch #3 listed now as well. Link. You'll have to scroll down.
  16. Cool thanks for the link. I didn't even see it when i posted.
  17. I have a few CGC Golden Age books for sale in my thread in the FS forum. Including an Adventures into the Unknown #1, an Action Comics #91 in 7.0, and a Strange Worlds #1 (1958). Link Thanks for checking them out.
  18. Some the books I was most happy to obtain at this past weekends NYCC. I didn't end up with any Timelys mainly because dealers weren't afraid to price them strong. There's nothing wrong with that, just puts most of them higher than I want to pay. Rick had the best selection with his massive MM and CA display. He had the most reasonable prices too, which is why it probably didn't take long for Metro to scoop them all in one shot. I looked at a few DCs but can't really afford the ones that i am after in much better than complete condition. At any rate - I did find a few Nedors I have been after. These two are a little lower grade then i would prefer, but with some books you have to take what you can get. These next ones I love. The second copy, with the chip, is the Crippen copy and had already actually bought from Richard (Bedrock) before I got to the show, and found the other copy before I even picked up the one from Richard. This is my best acquisition of the show. Although the grade range is what I have been looking for, It was hard for me to pull the trigger because of the slight miss-cut. I am coping with it nicely though. ...and I couldn't pass this one up. The store stamp is from "Miles' 2nd Hand Store" and my last name is Miles. No big deal but kind of cool.
  19. I saw those. That was a nice run of Ghost Rider and ME books. I was real tempted to throw down some bids.
  20. Nice. I liked it better at my house.
