  1. Also happy with this one. The 2nd appearance of Blade in the UK reprint . There is one 9.0 in the census and only 8 other copies (should be 9 when the census updates). I think this speaks to ow few of these are out there, and how most of those copies are not in great shape. TBH all these UK books are a total PITA to handle. They're flimsy & large. Not a great combo. The notes did mention the detached wraps at the bottom staple & the tearing of those wraps. Hard to know exactly how that factored into the grade, but they're the only notes. Again, I believe this is production related b/c the materials are so cheap, but IDK for sure. I'm just glad it didn't get totally hammered for that b/c it looks great in the slab.
  2. Couldn't be happier with this. I believe it will be tied with another 9.0 after the next census update for the top spot. The main reason I started dabbling in foreign comics were covers like this—creations for another market that don't seem to exist in any US editions. I'm only disappointed that we couldn't figure out who the cover artist was. Best guess right now is that it is something of an amalgamation of several Dracula artists' work.
  3. So, the one from the CGC social post wasn't mine. I was actually surprised at the number of copies of this submitted to the signing. Seemed like between 8-12 more copies showed up in the SS since the signing. People were pretty spot on here.
  4. After the c&p, we thought this might to a bit better, but really not the point here. Very happy with the double-layer signature.
  5. Pretty happy here, especially given what I paid for this book. They ID'd the dark stuff on the cover as soiling, but I think it's ink transfer. Certainly allowable at an 8.0 either way. I did miss that there's a little chip out of the bottom corner of the back cover (in the notes). I wouldn't be surprised if that cost a grade.
  6. One of a few taking step 1 of a journey today

  8. Looks like a 9.0/9.2 but anecdotally, this is a book they can be hard on b/c they see a lot of copies.
  9. I'd like to inspect that top edge to determine if that roughness is due to marvel tearing. I don't know if I could tell the difference, but it makes me sound smarter. If this is due to the production cut & isn't that much worse from handling, I could see this at 8.0 ± 0.5, if it's just edge wear I'd set the midpoint at 7.0
  10. 8.0ish. Lots to like, just the 1 front & back corner to be dinged.
  11. 7.5, some dings, but it's a dark cover so a little forgiveness.
  12. the discoloration is splotchy enough for me to think foxing with some tanning. I don't see this going over 6.0/6.5 by current CGC standards.
  13. 7.5/8.0 with c/p. I'd try to clean up the photos for your next post. It's a lot to scroll through
  14. I made a similar request about Rampage 1, which has a plastic model. I don't think they made the post public & the correspondence after posting was in email. CGC apparently update it's official standards recently to exclude the plastic model's absence from requiring a green label. But, like you, I think this policy should be documented somewhere that can be found easily
  15. Officially, CGC says writing can lead to a grade between 4.0-9.8. I have a price markdown book done in what looks like sharpie that is a 4.5 (also has 1 detached staple & other things). The issues along the spine & the tanning & possibly light foxing on the back cover look more indicative of a 5.0/5.5 & I don't think the writing will be a consideration with the grade, especially a price change.
  16. This is the Marvel UK version of Secret Wars 1. As far as I can tell, there as never been a copy of this graded. It was distributed with a gift set of transfers taped to the cover. Most of the copies I have seen have the transfers removed but have tape residue/staining left behind form the removal. If the transfers were removed, it would receive a Qualified Label since this (unlike the plastic model kits) does look like something flat that could be encapsulated. Is this correct? My interpretation of the CGC grading books suggests a gift taped to the front would not be treated like other tape on a comic. The central question is in what form should a book like this be sent to CGC. Gifts attached? Gifts removed?
